Help With Costume Idea

Hi everyone,

I know I'm early, but I just came up with my Halloween costume idea yesterday. It's an homage to a character in one of my favorite musicals (let me know if you know what I'm talking about). Basically, it's a (movie) theater usher costume and here's what I have so far planned out/jotted down:

An old suit or tuxedo to get started (found this idea while researching). The refreshment tray would be an old pizza box wrapped in paper or fabric and have something written on the paper/fabric (probably the name of the musical on the front side and "refreshments" on the other two sides). I would attach a sash or fabric strap so I would carry it easily. Empty candy boxes would be attatched as if I'm serving them (lol).

Now here are some of my ideas/questions. I was thinking of maybe getting fabric paint and doing a star motif on the outfit. Would a hat and gloves look good? What about a microphone?

I am welcome to any ideas/suggestions! Thank you!!!!!

LOL! Halloween! I'm still waiting for Spring! LOL!

But, Moonwolf, I don't know what character you are playing, but it sounds like fun! Instead of a microphone, I would go for a Megaphone & belt out a song from the musical! (well, I wouldn't but hope you would...I'm not a good singer!)

A top hat & gloves would be wonderful! Sounds like you're going to enjoy! How about "silver" gloves!!! (anyone come to mind???) Keep having fun w/your plans! Jeanne S.

Thanks, Jeanne! The character is actually female (she is called the Usherette) but I changed it so a guy like me could have fun :). I'm a mediocre singer I guess and I would sing the song that she sings if I got asked ;) . A top hat is a neat idea! I was thinking more of the kind a bellhop wore but I think a top hat would look better! Silver gloves....hmm. You might be on to something!

"Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still, but he told us where we stand..." Does this ring any bells (no pun intended) for anyone? (Hint: this character only appears in the musical, not the movie version). This is the song she sings in the musical.
