Favors for V-Day?

Posted by party_music50 (My Page) on

I hope this is the right forum to post something like this!

I hosted a small dinner party last Valentine's Day (sauerbraten and the works!) and had a lot of fun. I made V-Day favors for the guests: paper swedish hearts in pink and green and then glued together to become seed packets. I put different seeds in each, with info and growing instructions, and then piled them all into a compote as a center piece. Everyone loved getting those seed packets!

So... I'm going to host another V-Day dinner party. It will be a different set of guests, but they're not the type to like getting seeds.

Anyone have suggestions on a "Valentine Day" theme party favor I could make to give the guests? I'm a basket weaver, and at my last dinner party I gave small handwoven baskets to the ladies. They loved it, but I felt bad that I didn't have something for the guys.

You are a very thoughtful hostess and I like the gifts you've already given.

Could you weave a basket for the guys for their cars? I've seen closed (or stoppered) baskets made with something scented inside for cars. Maybe use sandalwood or pine for a masculine scent.

How about small picture frames with their names inside. They could take them home and actually put a picture in them. Small baskets or pretty boxes full of wrapped chocolates. Heart shaped Valentine suckers stuck into styrofoam covered in shredded paper. I even remember when everyone was making the roses using two candy kisses wrapped in red plastic wrap and taped onto a long stem. Also, there are the small mylar balloons on a stick--might be cute stuck in small flower pots at each seat. It's very thoughtful of you to plan something special for your guests.

Thank you both for your answers. Luvs, chocolate candy of some sort is the answer! I wouldn't think of it because I don't have a sweet tooth -- but the people I'm inviting sure do! lol!

I just looked back and it was yachter's GD that did little wrapped packages... that's what I'll do. I love it!

Thanks again!

RE: Favors for V-Day? (BTW)

BTW: the other thought I came up with on my own last night was to make a batch of 'red' jam... strawberry is out-of-season, so I was thinking maybe red hot pepper jelly... and give each guest a jar. The color would be good for V-Day and they'd like that too because I don't think any of them "cook". Just thought I'd mention it. :)

Along the "Chocolate" idea, how about chocolate kiss candy? Kisses of all kinds seem to be especially appropriate for Valentine's Day, don't you think? :~)
BTW welcome to our forum!
