| I think there was a thread a little while back about what we collect, but of course I can't find it now. I spent my morning taking everything out of my curio and rearranging it. After getting it all back in there, I thought I would share pictures with ya'll.
Here are my dolls...there are two newer porcelain dolls mixed in here, but all the rest are high heel fashion dolls from the 1950's. Sometimes I feel like getting rid of them simply because they take up so much space in the cabinet. In fact, I started to weed them out today, but changed my mind.
Here are my porcelain ladies. Most of them are from Home Interior and were given to me by different family members as Christmas gifts.
When I was a teenager, I went through a music box stage. Most of the ones that I had were small cheap ones and they're long gone now. I only have a few left, one of which is in this photo. The deep cobalt casing has swirls of gold in it and the music mechanism is brass. It plays Blue Danube and there are little bee hammers that hit the bells while the music is playing.
These next two photos show some of my beaded purses. The one with the French scene on it is only about 30 years old. The rest are about 1880ish - 1920's.
Titanic is one of my favorite movies and you can just see the bottom of my Rose doll's dress in the photo. I also have a decorative Titanic plate and music box that plays "My Heart Will Go On".
I also went through a period when I collected decorative eggs. Most of them are marble and a few have handpainted scenes on them.
I did take alot of stuff out that I no longer wanted in there. I like it much better like this now...I can actually see everything instead of a jumbled up mess.
Anyone else have collections they wanna share?? |

| Thanks for sharing your beautiful doll collections with us Dream! I also really like your music box and beaded purses. I collected few things until recently altho have probably made up for it in the last 5 years since I retired. The only things I collected seriously were the cobalt blue Bing and Grondahl Christmas plates. It was an easy collection as it took little time. Started in 1965 and bot my last plate in 1994 as I knew I didn't want to display more than that. I have 35 plates because there is a larger one every 5 years altho I didn't get the 1965 large plate. When we had this house built I had plate rails built on 4 walls (3 in the great room and one in the breakfast) for these plates. I love plates and have since collected dozens of single plates I like and I often use them on the plate rails instead of the blue ones. I also collect a lot of other things, one of my favorites is silver things. I have some silver treasures from family but most are from auctions and yard sales. One of my recent finds is a set of 51 pieces of silver plated flatware for $5. It's Reflection pattern by 1847 Rogers Bros. so I thot it was a real find and great for tablescapes. I have dozens more pieces - lot of trays, plates, bowls, and wedding baskets which are fun to use in vignettes, for serving, or display. Tried to load some pics but Photobucket must be making some changes and I can't. I'll try later. I used to have a Shutterfly site with a lot of my pics and it was easy to post a slideshow or link but I found people were using them so I've made it private. Don't mind posting the occasional pic but don't like to give carte blanche for people to steal any/all of my pics. I tried a free watermark but it seems to change the color adversely. |

dream..this is quite an impressive collection and you have them displayed so nicely. My DD's friend has collected dolls since she was little and has quite a few in cases too, however she keeps them in their original boxes (for collection purposes)... The only thing, (I feel) is, you don't really get to see and enjoy them. I agree, with Jeanne.. love those beaded purses. jane |

Wow, that's a lot of collections, DG! I especially like your vintage purses. Pretty! You'd mentioned not being able to find past Collection threads. You need to use the Search on the forum's main page and not the one on a thread's page. Here's the link to what I found for you: "Collection Threads" What I collect: Cottageware, Fruitware, Crosses, Santos, Western and Spanish Colonial art Lynn |

DG, what a lovely collection of dolls and lady figurines you have. I particularly love the ladies in the last photo. I have way too many collections, because I like way too many things, and way too little self-control. LOL. In fact I started an album of my collections on Photobucket, trying to organize things somewhat for my DD to have information at hand in case she has to deal with it one of these days. But I made it public to share with the gang here as we often discuss collections. One of my favorite subjects obviously. LOL. hugs, Karen |

| You sure have some beautiful dolls and purses also. What neat collections. Have you ever used the dolls in one of your tablescapes? I remember the one Judith did using her's. I just love how elegant and romantic your doll figurines look. I see lots of what look like porcelian dolls at the "Treasure stores" but have no idea how you tell a "collectible one" from the others. Any tips on that? Luvs |

How beautiful!! You have a fabulous collection. I never had an interest in dolls as a child. As an adult, I guess I've entered my childhood as far as dolls go. I LOVE them, too. Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection. |
