My 'Cabin Fever' Shopping Spree! (pic heavy)

Posted by slinkey (My Page) on Sat, Feb 6, 10 at 15:16
I was laughing last night when I saw Lynn's pictures of her Birthday Shopping Spree... I think we had the same 'fever' that MADE US go out and shop...only difference - it wasn't MY Birthday!! lol
Of course, I had to get my 'CTS Fix' and found some great things. Also went to TJMax and Michael's. By looking at all my 'stuff'... can you guess what I'm pining for?
CTS Tablecloth..it has a pretty Cutwork design on it - $6.99
The two Kitchen Towels were 2/$3.. I'll cut them in half and make 4 Napkins out of them.
You really can't appreciate these in the photo. They are candles that look like 'chocolate cupcakes' My DD showed them to me at her house, and naturally I had to get a few too...they were $.89 each.
The White Bowl - TJMax $2 clearance... The White Bird - CTS
clearance $1....The two Blue Glass candle holders (consignment shop) $1 ea.
These napkins I bought at a nearby Consignment Shop (had to check in) They were brand new 8/$4
The CTS - cute Bunny Box was $2.99 it has a Sugared Finish.
The 'Eggs in the Carton' also have a Sugared Finish...they were $1.29 for each Set of 4.
CTS (eggs on left) were 3/$1...Eggs in mesh - Michael's 40% off.. The Vintage Bunny box (has cute designs on all sides) was at TJMax - $2.99...The Yellow Bunny Glass Candy Dish - CTS $2.99 (you really can't see the cute details on it)
The CTS - Green Hurricane/Vase was $3.49..
closer look at the 3/$1 eggs ...
I couldn't resist these at TJMax...$4.99
These Eggs were a great buy...The Alabaster eggs were $.69 ea and the Mercury ones were 2/$3..
I couldn't resist these two cute guys from CTS..
The faux Chocolate one was $1.99 and the large foil one was $4.99
Now I saved this for last!! I've been looking and wanting these for so long...
The last time I was at CTS, I saw them, but didn't want them because they were decorated and the base was glued (Silicon) on. This time..they only had a couple left... I showed them to DH and asked if he could some how, cut off the base..He said he'd try but the glass might crack.. I said let's try. I bought the two in different sizes. I said do the little one (cheaper) first..if it breaks..I'll return the other. Here's what we started with...
Pretty as it is with the base..but I wanted to be able to put other decorations in there!...This is the large one...
He used his trusty Ban Saw...Blade Scraper..and lots of careful patience...Both...AFTER...
I had to sacrifice the base, but now I get to use them With the little nests...or with whatever else I want to use...
Cute nests...
Both of these 'Babies' cost me TaDa!!...$6.99 for the little one, and $14.99 for the large one, and I still get to keep the cute nests!!
Thanks for YOUR patience in looking at all my 'Fever' purchaes...hope you enjoyed it..

| Wow! Fantastic finds Jane! I can tell you had so much fun too! Great thinking on those cloche, much nicer to be able to change them out as you want--and you still have the cute nests too. Can't pick a favorite, love it all. The blue candle holders are a great find, and that little yellow dish is so cute! Now I'm eagerly awaiting seeing your new goodies in future tablescapes. The prices at the CTS stores just amaze me--sure allows you to get more that way, doesn't it? We don't have anything out here that even comes close to their prices, so I'm jealous--yet very happy for those of you who can shop there! Luvs |

| Double Wow!! I love findings like that. Got a question...what is CTS? |

| Jane, I've been ooohing and aaahing thru each of your pics, hard to say what I like best but I'm now *really* looking forward to my upcoming trips to the city. Love the sugared and beaded finishes as well as the mercury glass eggs. Those fat aqua glass candleholders really caught my eye - lovely color, great for Easter and also one of the trendy colors for this year, not that any of us really care about trends, do we! All great finds and will be lots of fun to play with. Great save on the cloches - good for your DH! |

Holy Crap! You hit the jackpot. Especially on the cloches with the great nests in them! WOW, Jane. Now you've got me practically drooling on my keyboard. I keep scrolling up to look at everything. BUNNIES !! Wooo Hooo. And MERCURY eggs! Ohhh, I'm really jealous there. The little chick ornaments from TJMaxx are adorable! And that green hurricane is a wonderful find. Oh dang, I just it all. (and at my age, I think its great to not have a birthday. Shopping is good Any day.) hugs, Karen |

I'm a itching and a twithching here..you got out in that storm..or before it hit?? I want, I mean LOVE it all. I know how you love blue, so those candle holders will get good use! I love all the adorable Easter things..too cute...and so far away! :( But at CTS if you don't get it now you never will! I have things to return from my last trip...so I hope to get there soon.. CTS = Christmas Tree Shops for those who don't know..they are spreading out all over..I saw they opened one in KY! So be patient, they will come! Jane, you are a VERY bad influence!!! But I loved it..made my day! Now I am going back to check it out again! |

| WOW, slinkey! I feel like Spring has sprung now!!! Awesome finds! That "sugared finish" on the bunny & eggs looks so pretty pastel-ie! But those mercury ones are out of this world, beautiful! What a buy! And, kudos, to both you.. to be able to foresee what could be done with the cloches & DH for succeeding! Those are wonderful! I could rant & rave on everything...but right now will just drool, like purplemoon! TFS your wonderful day! Jeanne S. |

NICE! That's what my son calls "whammy shopping" where one drags home a little of everything. lol I love everything, what fun for you to get out of the cabin fever mode for awhile and find some goodies. I looove the blue candle holders, the white bowl, the mercury eggs and everything else to but the Cloches are my favvvvorite. Major kudos to your crafty and successful husband. Enjoy your new treasures! and I can't wait to see how you use them all. A side note, I think the cabin fever shopping is in the air. We took a little drive North this evening and I stopped at TJ Maxx (not real impressed this trip , only found a set of light charcoal wine glasses) & Michaels where I finally managed to find the copper color chargers I've been oogling on Ebay but didn't need the quantity of 24 they were selling them in.. LOL) Expecting 6-8 more inches of snow here tomorrow night and Monday so I guess it's back to pacifying thy shopping on Ebay and letting the mailman do the work. |

MM...Whammy Shopping...I LOVE IT. Goes right along with Luv's thrift store Treasure Shopping. LOL hugs, Karen |

| Thank you ladies...Glad you Approved of my Shopping! Luvs...I'm really hoping that a CTS will make it's way to your area soon. They are popping up all over, so I'm sure it won't be long. They do have great bargains. Wanda...CTS - Christmas Tree Shops. They are a chain that started out in Cape Cod in the 70's. I've been shopping them ever since. ..Recently they were taken over by Bed Bath & BeYond. As Kathleen mentioned, they are spreading out all over. Keep your eye out..there might be one coming your way! Luckygal...I'll be looking forward to your Shopping Finds! It's fun to get out and even more fun when you get great bargains. The glass candleholders are actually a nice 'water blue'.. I've seen many aqua things around now, and that color is very pretty too. I'm looking foward to 'playing' with everything too. karen... I really thought of you when I saw all the 'Bunny' stuff. I could have bought so much more...but I'd end up in the poor house for sure. Imagine if I had a 'Partner In Crime' with me instead of DH...!! I'd have all this Neat Stuff, with No Place to Live!! LOL. I agree..you don't need a BD excuse to shop..however, having that BD money just makes it EASIER to spend MORE!! kathleen... I knew once you saw my CTS stuff...you'd be 'Blazing A Trail' to yours!! I'm sure you'll be finding different things at yours, that mine doesn't have. If you do... YOU'D BETTER SHARE!! jeanne...I was really worried about DH removing the bases on the Cloches. That's why I told him to do the smaller one first..just to see. He said it was hairy, because he had to go slowly to keep the blade away from the glass. Then he had to 'tap' and scrape the excess Silicone off. I'm excited to 'play' with them now. MM...love your son's expression 'Whammy Shopping'..cute. As I wrote to Jeanne...I was real lucky with DH cutting away the bases on the Cloches. I think the two together are what I was looking (price wise) for just one....and, I've got the little nests as an added bonus! Glad you were able to get out from your 'Cabin Fever' too. It helps with all this terrible weather.. I'm glad you found your Chargers...lucky you. Were you able to use a coupon for them? HOpe your weather calms down... just keep thinking, NEXT MONTH - IS SPRING!! jane |

| Jane, Easter and Springtime here we come! I continue to be jealous of your Cracker Barrel Easter dishes--now you've got even more wonderful things and I can hardly wait to see what you do with them. I really love the nests that came with your cloches because they're so "woodland" looking. (If only I had the rustic dark stained dining table of my dreams) Your DH cut the bases off your cloches without a peep, huh? Mine would give it a go, but not without asking me if I wanted them without bases, why didn't I buy them without bases! I love to decorate for Easter, and I know I'll be steal--er, adapting some of your ideas. I also love the foil bunny, and the box with vintage pictures...like the traditional stuff best but it's all great, especially when you arrange it. Tomorrow DH and I are going fishing (should be sunny and 50 degrees). I hope the weather in the East clears up soon... - Magpie |

| Wahhh, I want a CTS!!! I suppose those chocolate cupcakes were from CTS too. I looked everywhere for candle cupcakes for my xmas chefs this year. Yep, it looks like the CTS label on them! DRAT! I LOVE everything you bought, am wowed by all of it & had to laugh about Kathleen, she will be out on her snowsled tomorrow with dogs pulling it if she has to!!! LOL |
RE: My 'Cabin Fever' Shopping Spree! (pic heavy)

| OK. I know this sounds crazy after everyone has been ranting and raving about the cloches (which were, indeed, a great find and an even greater "remodel"), but my favorite thing is the chocolate bunny. As we are still waiting of a Christmas Tree Shop, I can't get one here, but I'm going to Google him right now! Nice job on the whammy shopping. |
RE: My 'Cabin Fever' Shopping Spree! (pic heavy)

| WOW! Amazing stuff, but my absolute favs are the faux chocolate and silver bunnies -- and the cloches with the nests! The nests are awesome, and your DH did a great job separating the cloches from the base for you to use for other things. I want a CTS near me too! sigh. |

Jane:: Unfortunatly since we live 45 minutes away from Michaels, my coupons usually expire before I get back up there to use them. I found the chargers for 2.99 each I wasn't sad about the purchase anyways. I'm thinking SPRING trust me, but it isn't working to well.. LOL I'm joining the wishing for a CTS nearby as well ~sigh~. |
RE: My 'Cabin Fever' Shopping Spree! (pic heavy)

| You'll have to excuse me while I wipe all of the drool off of my keyboard! WOWEE!! You hit the motherload for sure! LOVE all of the bunnies, eggs, etc. And the cloches are just wonderful! And the nest decorations inside just make the prettiest display.....you really make me wish for spring! |

| Oh Jane, wonderful bunch of Easter goodies you bought. I can hardly wait to see your table and decorations. Will come back and look some more when I have more time. Those cloches are WONDERFUL and I love the nests. You sure got Karen excited. Can't believe you had DH cut them apart. That's determination and I Love It!!! You'll be laughing your head off when you see my PUNY little eggs that hang on my Easter tree. I'm so thankful one of my friends gave me some hand painted ones from Canada or I would be to embarrased to post anything here. Punk |

Magpie...I'm laughing at what you said about your DH... mine didn't go along with it that eaisly at first. I had to convince him 'He Could Do It'... I told him how clever he was and knew he could...he did warn me quite a bit, that the glass could shatter. I WAS amazed in the end, that he succeded. I hope you and DH had a great fishing day. Sounds like a nice 'together' time. yachter...Yep...Kathleen will be making her way to her local CTS shop. Nothing gets past her...lol As far as those chocolate cupcake candles...when I go next time, I will look to see if they still have any left and will keep you in mind. They would look cute with your Chefs. OA...I've seen those chocolate bunnies in many stores.. They seem to be pretty popular this year. I first saw them last year in Home Goods, but now many other places. party music...keep the faith.. as I said to Luvs. Also, keep checking out the CTS site..they have a listing of where they are and future sites as well. MM...you should Register on Michael's site and have them email you their weekly sales AND coupons. This way, when you go, you can print out a current coupon. I do that, because they don't send a flyer to my area. Hi Marlene..Welcome. You don't want to 'Short Out' you PC with all the drool!! lol Glad you enjoyed my 'haul'! I didn't realize until I unpacked everything...how much SPRING I bought.. Guess, just like everyone else, I've had enough Winter already. Hope to hear more from you, and please join in and share any pictures that you have...We LOVE pictures, as you can tell by the responces to mine!! lol PUNK!! You've been missed! I know you've been busy and glad you had a chance to 'pop' in. Glad you enjoyed looking at everything. I don't think your tree will make me laugh...you are always too modest. I'm looking forward to seeing the hand painted eggs your friend gave you. Looking forward to seeing you back when you get the time. jane |

| WOW. I want a CTS shop in Portland. Great stuff. I love the cloches. I bought several years ago and they were so hard to find. All of mine are a rain/bubbled type glass so you can't see through them. I am jealous of yours. I can't wait to decorate for Easter either. |
RE: My 'Cabin Fever' Shopping Spree! (pic heavy)

| Jane, what great finds! You will be very anxious for Easter now! I LOVE those cloches! How wonderful that your hubby could cut off the bases (its strange to me that the sealed them up in the first place!). I keep eyeing one up here in town but it is $69.99 and when I see the price you paid, I'm going to wait until I get shopping out of town. DD |

Lucky, lucky you! Just wonderful finds and all in my colors. The cloches are so classy looking with the little nests in them. Thanks for sharing. Syble |

What a wonderful, fun shopping spree that was, Jane!!!! I'm in awe of the pretty things you found and can't wait to see them all in your future tablescapes. I absolutely love your "foil wrapped" baby chicks and bunny, but my very favorite are your two cloches! The nest arrangements that came in them are beautiful, but I'm so glad that your DH could get them apart to use with many arrangements now. Is that what your cherub is in? Lynn |
