We had 44 people for our Mardi Gras party on Saturday, including 4 out of towners. I was so busy I didn't really get any good pix, my friend from Louisiana is sending me hers. I did get one of the buffet decorations before it started. We cook the crawfish and shrimp in the garage and have the bar there too. We cooked 41 lbs of crawfish, 16 lbs of shrimp, 4 racks of ribs, 10 lbs wings, 4 batches of gumbo 2 of jambalya, all kinds of dips and appitizers, pralines, chocolate fountain and a king cake. We went to a superbowl party Sunday and Woo Hoo for our Saints. We are originally from LA, and I am sure my late mother is danicng in Heavan and it's snowing in hell. I know it's true because we woke up to a surpise of 5 inches of snow this morning. Anyway here is a couple of pix of the Mardi Gras hootenanny.

| Wow! That was a huge amount of food! I can't even imagine cooking for that many people! Sounds like all of you had a wonderful time. You made the house look very festive, and it is great that your DH willingly shares in the cooking chores. Your totems still look gorgeous even with the snow on them and their colors were perfect for the party as well. The flamingos may start thinking it's time to migrate for the rest of the winter! LOL Love your sign, did you make it yourself. I'd love to hear the details on how it was made. Luvs |

Syble: The decor looks wonderful!! That's a ton! of food but it sounds like you all had a great time and that's what counts the most. I posted to you in the garden junk forum about the snow. You got allot more than I did up here but it's coming down again right now so I may be eating my words in a bit. LOL I loooove your totems, especially the purple one & the poor flamingos don't seem to be enjoying their new artic habitat. Luvs mention of migration may apply very soon. LOL |

| WoW! What a party! Ditto what has already been said and I love your totems - perfect for Mardi Gras decor. I had to google king cake as I'd never heard of that before. Always interesting to learn of traditions from other places. Love to see more pics. |

I can't believe 'YOU Cooked The Whole Thing'!! That's a huge amount of food to handle and have ready for 44 People! I'd need several drinks to keep me calm and 'focused'!! Sounds like a great time, and your decos look very festive. jane |

| Looks like you brought the Saints luck with your party, everything looks great, your DH looks tired! We had ribs yesterday too, had out of town guests & even the gkids loved them! You should have seen the 7 year old with hands all greasy & eating them down to the bare bone! Now that kid knows how to eat ribs!! |

Frou,I thought I commented last night, not sure where that went. The pix of the flamingos in snow is neat. And where the heck did you find PURPLE glass for totems? I never see purple glass. :o( I have to say my favorite is the DEER! He's a hoot decked out for Mardi Gras. As for feeding 44 people, OMGOSH. Mind-boggling to me. hugs, Karen |

Thanks you guys, we had a blast. DH really does a lot of the cooking. We also had karoke, Mardi Gras pinata, and a home made roulette wheel (it was a big hit).Luvs, I found that chaulkboard sign at the flea market and of course I had to have it. It is made of cast iron and slate. mmom, we ended up with 8 inches of snow before Monday was over. I went to work and was the only one there, stayed home Tues. and the kids are still out today. Karen, the only purple glass I ever find are those purple florist vases and I buy them whenever I find them. Syble |
