My New Valentine Wreath: Which Do You Prefer?

Posted by lynninnewmexico (My Page) on

I finally had time to work on my new wreath for Valentine's Day this afternoon. I wanted something a bit rustic but also very romantic looking. I found the twig wreath at HL for 50% off. The ivy was also half off. I already had the roses and the pearl garland.

I didn't want a busy wreath, but I can't decide if I want to keep it with or without the Cupid ornament. This isn't where I'll be keeping it, but I needed a place with good natural light so that it would, hopefully photograph well.

BTW, I discovered that the best way to decorate a wreath is to do it while it's hanging. So I hung it on the 3-panel room divider screen in our living room.
Great Way to Decorate a Wreath!

So, which way do you prefer: with the Cupid?

Or without?

Close-up Picture of It

Here's a close-up pic to see some of the detail.
The pearl garland looks like plain white beads in these pics, but IRL the garland has a pretty pearl look.

Lynn...I'm with OA...I vote "with" ...and I love how you created this from a vine wreath...now I am thinking about my front door which still has pine wreath up! TFS! Jeanne S.

Lynn, your wreath is lovely! I'm another vote "with".

I prefer.....drum roll please.....
you send it to me! But my second preference is WITH.
That is a beautiful design on that wreath! And the pretty Cupid would look great ANY place on it.

I learned that it was much easier on my body to decorate wreaths while hung up last year! No more laying them on the table.

hugs, Karen

That heart wreath is wonderful!!! I'd love it with just the ivy as a year-round display!

I'd use it with the cupid for Valentines and without for other times. Could be used anytime in a bedroom or bathroom for a romantic touch. The pearls are a really nice addition, I must use that, I've been collecting them from yard sales.

I agree with Partymusic--with the cupid for Valentines, and without for other times. It's a nice looking wreath, and you did a really nice job on it. Luvs

Very pretty, Lynn! I really should get busy and make a Valentine's wreath. Yours is such a good inspiration. I like it with the cupid but wonder if it would look good with it attached into the greenery near the roses? It just seems a little bare to me with it hanging in the middle - just my opinion! Thanks for sharing!

It's lovely..!
I vote for a red heart hanging down..I know:) that wasn't an option..LOL
Maybe a little gypsophilia around the roses to make them pop..(Baby's Breath)

Your Valentine wreath is wonderful and I like it with the cupid on the white wall and without on the door. Hope you will let us know what you decide.LOL

Gypsophilia!!! Kathleen, quit being a show-off.

Actually, that does sound like a good idea.

Lynne, if you don't move the little cupid to the side, and you hang the wreath on a light colored wall, how about trying to back him with a red or pink heart so that he'll show up a bit more?

Very pretty, Lynn. I like it both ways, but really better without. It doesn't sound like my usual "excess is better" attidude does it.

Thanks for all your opinions! Since the majority of you think the cupid should stay, he's staying. DD informs me that he's not Cupid, but an angel because he doesn't have the prerequisite bow & arrow. He's holding a mandolin, I think. Hmmmmm!
I've hung the wreath on the inside of my front door until I can get a hanger for my big picture window in the dining room tomorrow at HL. I've also added more roses to the bottom right of the wreath. Does it look ok to you? Take them off or leave them on?

Lynn, maybe not cupid, but a "cherub" for sure. Cherubs work just great for Valentines Day.

Your wreath looks really nice. Enjoy.
