Installing new headlight beams

| How difficult is it to install new headlights? We have a 1998 Toyota Avalon and it's really hard to see for me to drive at night. These are just the little beams, 2 in a package, and you have to buy two separate packages, one for low beams and one for high beams. We were told not to touch the lamps as just oil from our hands could cause them to quit working.
My son said he would install them if I wanted to buy them, but we don't know how hard it would be or where to start looking. The guy at Advance told me there's something under the hood that you get into. That didn't help me any. Is there an on-site site that tells you how to do it? I haven't looked in the manual yet.

| Check your owner manual for the procedure to replace bulbs. goto any auto parts store and ask for replacement bulbs for a '98 Avalon. This is not a big repair. If your son said he could do it, then let him. I'll bet he can figure it out on his own. |

| I just replaced some on one of my cars. Took about a couple of minutes for each one. I bought the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra. They are brighter than normal ones. Better if you have a hard time seeing at night like me. Owner manual should tell you how to install. Got mine at Auto parts store. Go in with your manual to make sure you get the correct ones. I've also heard about the oil on your hands being bad. Use gloves? |
