OK, the truth is, I could have used a little tact up yonder. That is, I stand by the content of what I said earlier, but like some have said, I didn't have to take it in quite the direction I did. Here's the thing: This is a forum about trees, trees which happen to be coniferous. And for whatever reason, both here and in the regular Trees forum, there's been a rash of what I consider long-term members' use of inexact and downright incorrect verbiage in talking about some of the things we see. It's just a forum but it gets frustrating to see long-discredited notions about tree care still in wide circulation. I guess I'd just like us to be better than that. The information is out there, derived from many sources, including people that intensively studied things like wound dressings, tree responses to injuries, and the like for decades. BTW, I don't know a single tree care practitioner worth his or her weight in rare Pinus aristata cultivars that stopped learning at some point. I know I haven't. Whether from books, in school, on the job, or at a seminar some place.....or in one's own yard for that matter, who would ever say they've learned all there is to know? Finally, Dave, you're right-I've never tried that particular product, so to some degree, I do not know its effectiveness as claimed. What I do know is that since at least 1980, I've heard the very concept that trees require humans to apply various materials to their wounds called into question, and done so with tree biology as the underpinning of this questioning. That is what I think has gone missing lately around here and at "Trees". Not sure why, but it seems we quickly drift into matters that I do believe have been settled long ago. Now that's not to say that there could never be a substance which, when applied to a tree wound, would help in some way. Our own Spruceman came up with his own "Liguid Copper Fungicide" (Sorry spruce if I got that wrong) and it could be that there is merit to what he came up with. But again Dave, take the case you cite, that of the spruce you "fixed" and got to stop "bleeding out". I would question how it is that you are sure that putting this stuff on the tree is what caused it to get better. Trees often do get better, and with no outside help. In fact, not directed at you especially, but to my way of thinking, this is a part of human arrogance to think that it is our actions, and our actions alone, that saved this or that plant. I look to the widespread coverage of the earth with trees as evidence that our role in their success is close to insignificant. I'd like people to learn, so when I see things that ring false to me, I point them out. I didn't like Whaas saying he though he needed to apply some control product when in fact, the nature of the problem had not been identified. So I called him out on it. If someone came on here and said you have to bury your new plantings extra deep, so the wind won't blow them over, I would raise my objections there too. Otherwise, what would be the point of participation here? +oM

I bought a 1995 Acura Legend in 1998 with 32,000 miles on it. It was a 36-month lease turn-in and was literally in PERFECT condition. It sat unsold on the Acura dealerâs used lot because it was the least expensive model, the L 4-door, with cloth interior and 5-speed manual transmission. But it was exactly what I wanted, White with Taupe interior, Bose stereo, Power seats with memory and (the best part) the sweetest 200hp 3.2L V6 Iâve ever experienced! I paid $26,000 out-the-door, which felt like a fortune at the time (I was 23). I drove it 40-50k miles per year until I was t-boned by a commercial truck in August 2005. It had just turned 329,000 miles at the time and didnât burn a drop of oil (synthetic), the clutch had only been replaced once and the transmission shifted like new. Other than scheduled maintenance, the only thing I ever had to replace was the A/C compressor and two ABS sensors. The impact was so hard the passenger-side door panel ended up breaking my right hand and forearm (it was in the middle of the car). The rearview mirror broke loose during the crash and hit me in the head just above my right ear. It left most of the glass mirror fragments in my head and took 38 staples to close the wound! I also had damage to two discs in my cervical spine that required a 3-level c-spine fusion the following year. But I was able to recover from all of those injuries, which was pretty amazing considering how bad my poor Legend looked. I bought a 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback to replace it in December 2005. Eight years later, Iâm just past 190,000 miles and going strong!

You can also use a natural diy spray. This will not hurt the spiders and its not harmful to you etc. Also it keeps bugs from coming in like roaches and also keeps ants at bay. You mix up in a spray bottle with water. Now the main ingredients are simple but you have to prepare in one of two ways. You can chop large into large pieces and put into a small boiler and and bring to a boil on the stove and if tho is the one chosen, make sure ti allow it to cool down before putting into the spray bottle. If there isn't enough to fill your bottle simply add water to the bottle. Now the other way is to take the ingredients and put them into a processor with a little water and puree it down. Take the bottle and fill with water and pour water into bowl and add the mix to it mixing well and pour it into bottle. The ingredients are 2 tbsps red cayenne pepper, a handful of dry bay leaves, half of a onion, and 1tbsp of garlic, after you get these processed or boiled down and into your bottle add 2 tsps if dawn dishwashing liquid. Make sure to shake the bottle real well before each use. You will have reapply it after it rains. This mix is not good for repelling those few things. If you plant a garden of veggies, tomatoes,etc. You can actually spray this mix onto you plants and even if they have veggies in the plant it is safe. This will not alter the taste in your veggies at all. It will not harm the plants either. You are not spraying the roots just the top from the ground up. Remember to rinse your veggies very well. This is actually safer than using 7 dust etc. As I mentioned earlier you will have to reapply after the rain and after watering your garden. Certain critters dont like the aroma of thus mix so it keeps them away to. I hope this helps. Enjoy!!!!

What pops into my mind first off is the Studebaker. It might have been the same as Monica's. That would have been in 1962 or 3 and I have no idea what year it was. The "Green Bullet" was fun to drive when I could manage to shift it correctly. That really doesn't count because that was the car my Dad bought for us 3 kids to drive, so it wasn't actually mine. The first car that was MINE, would be a 1974 Pinto wagon. It was the coolest car I have ever had. It had an automatic floor shift (between the buckets.) It was brand new (Yes, nobody owned it before me!) and I made all the payments. It was bright red with black interior, with black and white plaid in the center of the seats. Even my kids thought it was cool!
