For a number of years the others that post here regularly have seen me predicting just how difiicult servicing certain cars was becoming. Congratulations on owning one of the worst when it comes to having good service information for it, as well as being even able to take this to an average shop because they are not likely to have a scan tool with software that supports the climate control system in this car. First are there any codes being set by the climate control head? I don't have the information at home on how to retrieve the codes manually, or if that is even possible. Another thing to consider, there is nothing here that truly suggests the car "is doing the same thing". Simply because of how heater, and AC systems operate, one using hot engine coolant, and the other a refrigerant system to cause an effect in the air temperature. Now granted they do share certain components in the dash, especially mode doors which are electrically operated, computer controlled with feedback signals to the control head. Plus in order for the climate control system to change the door positions in the in car, it has to know the ambient temperature (outside), the in car temperature, and the desired temperature by the operator. There are sensors called thermisters on the left side of the evaporator case that report this information to the control head. Do you really want to know how complicated this gets? The system has a water control valve, that either allows coolant to flow through the heater core, or blocks it depending on the commands from the control head. In 2000 they had issues with the valve plugging up, so they added a filter screen. The 6-clys do not use an auxillary coolant pump, but the V-8's do. Is the coolant level correct? Is the thermostat opening too soon? All of these could be impacting the heat the system delivers to the interior, and have nothing at all to do with the way your AC was working. I have never had one of these in the shop, and cannot say for sure if I have the software to support the climate control system. The 2000's used the same system as did the Lincoln Continentals. 2001, I don't know. I'd be hesitant to take this in if the shop was busy because it can turn into a technician trap. Which means the shop could lose money and time dealing with this as it could be the one and only time they see one of these. I suggest you use a shop that regularly works on these, or the dealer.

I am glad I stumbled across this thread! (thanks jnjmom for the orig. post!) I think many posters are right. Some posters just listed their personal preferences/taste as classic and their peeves and trendy and dated, but I still thought that overall, the cross sampling of opinion helped me get some perspective. I assumed that many posters are framing the conversation with respect to standard single family houses, while in NC at least, townhomes are cropping up like weeds. (many of which I'm convinced were thrown up in a hurry during the housing boom and were cheaply and 'trendily' made.) What are there time-stamped building trends in townhouses that you would avoid? (I assume many that apply to houses also apply to townhomes.) One potential 'time stamp' that jumped out at me when looking through the listings were arched entry ways and arched cutouts  all in townhouses built in the early 2000s. In a townhouse especially, they strike me as 'time stamped'. I used to live in an old 1950s home with a gorgeous arched front door, but had no other arches entryways, and I would never call it trendy. However, I've been avoiding those "obviously arched" entryways and cutouts in my search because regardless what I think of them personally, I think a square entry to another room or hall is- well, standard, and I have to consider eventual resell. Some of the comments mentioned the unnecessary interior molding. I think it is so true! I've seen it in so many 'luxury apartments' but I didn't think of it, so thanks. Some townhouses do have two story and vaulted rooms, and while I personally donÂt mind them, I do consider the future energy costs associated with heating and cooling them down the road when I want to sell. My husband put radiant heat in the floor of the basement under the main floor. The water is heated with propane going through the tankless water heater. It is a very inexpensive form of heat and also a very clean form since there is no moving air. Our modular home came with a regular propane furnace that we used until we got the tubing put under the main floor and operating. Our modular was just set in January so things are taking more time than we thought. We put the radiant heat in the coach house (apt. with garage under it.) which we built ourselves. (We lived in that while we were building the basement for the modular to sit on.) We were very happy with the heating even in the coldest weather. I don't know where you are located, but a heat pump is not real reliable in northern climates.

Roselee! Greetings! So good to see you are still posting along with some others. It's been so long.... I'm not actively gardening at the moment but was telling a friend about this site and thought I'd check in to say hi. I was a bit sad to discover that the whole site was no longer very active (with some exceptions). Do the old posts come up with key words placed in the search or how does one find them? I was recalling a post I'd made lamenting my terrible grasshopper issue which I believe included a discussion of chickens and chicken coops as a means of controlling the grasshoppers. I had come up with a design to surround the garden with a chicken run that acted as a protective barrier for the garden to help control grasshoppers and other insects, The runs would connect with a shed that would open on the front side to the garden (with a place for garden equipment, etc.), while the other two sides would house the chickens. I had included a drawing with the post and hoped to find it again in the archives. Anyone come across it? I wanted to show my friend who is thinking about doing both a garden and chickens on his five acre plot. What have you been up to in your garden?
