Are these explosive????

My DS & his roommate rent a house that has a garage conversion--it has a laundry room and a 3rd bedroom converted out of the formerly existing garage.

DS has some unopened cans of motor oil, a can of brake fluid (closed) and some carburetor fluid (also closed) that he keeps outside close to the north side of the house, which gets little to no sun at all.

The roommate, who seems to have some "issues" with a lot of different things, is now convinced these are potential incendiary devices as they remain, closed, but close to the house.

Is the roommate's fear based on fact? If there is no garage, where might be a better & safer place to store these (like, in the laundry room that used to be part of the garage?

Can this stuff be safely kept in the trunk of DS's car?

I tried to find some documentation about this by googling, but didn't come up with anything. Any info on line would be helpful for DS to share with his roommate.

No, not explosive. Flammable and combustible, tho. There aren't any extra special issues with these things. Other things in your house are just as much (or more) of a hazard, like some cleaning products. I keep those three things you mentioned in my garage.

I wouldn't keep the carburetor fluid in the car trunk as it's probably in a spray can which can get hot and overpressure in the summer -- and potentially explode if it gets hot enough.

I did the recall fix on my 2016 30" RCS range. Bluestar sent me the kit since I live in a rural area without local service techs, so I volunteered to do it myself. It was very easy to do, with detailed instructions and a complete set of of pre-wired parts. Only requires a screwdriver. The fix adds a (normally closed) relay that, in addition to the fan switch, controls power to the convection fan. The relay coil is powered by the same source as the blue oven preheat light on the control panel. When the light comes on, the relay opens and the fan turns off. When the light goes off, the convection fan is energized (when the fan switch is in the on position). Very simple. The convection fan can only be on when there is no gas flowing to the oven or broiler burners. It just forces compliance with the instructions that have always been in the user manual.

I use ammonium sulfate early in the season and then 2 more times in late spring and late summer. I grew up on a remnant of an orange grove in suburban Los Angeles. The old timer who had worked the groves helped us out to keep our trees healthy. He used ammonium nitrate which you can't buy anymore so I use the sulfate. He told my father at the time, just get the cheapest nitrogen you can.

My alyssum is doing the same, tumbling over the curb rather than on the lawn. I'm not sure what "Tiny Tim" is. A smaller form of alyssum? I would think you would at least wish to clip it back from the lawn because it will eventually kill the lawn it covers. A perennial 4-6" high would be a ground cover. I've had good luck with thyme, but mine doesn't bloom like alyssum does. There are some succulent ground covers which are nice, but if the sprinklers hit there, it could be a little too wet. Mexican heather is a taller but makes a nice border. I cant think of the Latin name now.
