Doesn't mean you have grubs. They like earthworms. Victor Mole Traps. Scissor type. The plungers with the spikes don't work very well. Flatten the runs and see which are back the next day. Dig out a section the same size as the trap. Use your hands and scoop out the dirt down to the bottom of the tunnel. Try not to fill up the tunnel. Put the trap in between both openings. The mole will come to the opening and will want to get to the other side. He'll do that by digging down rather than going through the open secion. That's when the trap gets him. Sometimes. ;=) Paul

Just thought I would post back to let you know that my mother sold the car. Thinking that we may have to try again this spring, we took it in for the safety and emissions inspections and they both passed. This was in October and it sold 3 weeks later, so the guy was able to transfer his license without having to have it reinspected. It sold for 2300 dollars. A classic car dealer offered her 500 dollars and her message to him was, "I may be old but I'm not stupid". LOL!!! The first thing that the classic car dealer did was get the NADA Car Guide but, he didn't know that I already had the information in hand, so I just let him talk and when he came out with that he would give her 500 dollars for it, I said no way and when I called her she gave him that message. I found this very strange but, just before we left with the car this dealer came back outside with someone else and said if we got 1200 dollars for it to take it. I thought, oh so you will only give her 500 but if someone offers her 1200 take it? I thought Yeah and I have your number too mister and I wouldn't buy anything from you if someone paid me to do so. What a jerk. The person who bought it had his car wrecked (someone hit him in the back and totaled his 1988 ford car) and he was looking for an older car and liked how the cougar looked inside and out. He liked how it drove and it didn't matter to him if the air worked or not. She had just spent 300 dollars on it to have a new fuel line put on it and so that was brand new; plus the fact that it had just been inspected and passed also helped to sell the car. I think the new owner will be really happy with it because it is in really good shape and the best part about it is that she can still look outside and see the car, her next door neighbor bought it. Who knew that the buyer would be so close. :-) One last thing, he is a very honest and kind man and I am very happy that he is the new owner. thirdfrt

I have 7 flower stems on mine this year, in quite a bit more sun than yours. It gets almost full afternoon sun - something I can get away with here on the cool Washington coast that you may not be able to. It's struggled a little, I dug it up when we moved and it spent a year in a pressed pulp pot. Three years ago, I got it planted and the deer ate the flower stems that season. And some of the leaves, or rather bites from several leaves, not entire leaves. Last year it appeared late, I'd begun to worry about it, then emerged and had about 5 bloom stalks. This is the first year in three it's looked settled in and beginning to perform. The things I'd planted around it that were to provide some dappled shade are taking their time too, and not effective yet. I moved only a few blocks but am still learning the idiosyncrasies of gardening here. With additional space came increased deer presence, ivy, false lily of the valley, and clay ;0)

I was in college. My mother had died when I was 12 and my father when I was 19. I had no money for a car. My younger sister and I were able to continue to our bachelors degrees with funding from the small estate my father left. I was a senior and facing student teaching, which I wanted to do at the new high school in my home town, but there was no public transportation from campus to the edge of town where this school was. A friend's father had a used car lot, and he sold me a car that would get me through student teaching, but I don't remember the amount, which was my accumulated pocket money. No more than $100, and probably less. However, he did not check the oil, which was full, but with kerosene rather than oil. It blew a rod right away, and he kindly replaced it with a real klunker that would still get me to the school. The front seat bolts were rusted away, and there were holes there. When I drove on the clover leaf entrance to the highway, the driver's door would fly open from the force of the curve, and I would have to hold onto the door handle. It was winter, and slush would splash up onto my ankles as I drove to my student teaching interview. I arrived ahead of time so that I could go into the washroom and scrub off the black, oily slush before meeting my master teacher to-be. It was a two tone rust and brown Plymouth. Brown was the paint color; rust was rust. It got me through a semester of student teaching.
