| 92 ford explorer,on the battery gage it will sometimes show around 12 or so volts and then all of a sudden drop to about 8-9 volts,lights go dim,it's an ongoing problem,am i chasing a bad alternator or may be a bad or lose wire in the system,already cleaned and tighten battery cables,also when battery cables are removed,vehicle quites running |

| When it drops to 8-9 volts is the A/C clutch engaging? Sounds like a bad alternator to me. Or a wire shorted somewhere. Such as the exciter circuit. Pooh Bear |
