She will be doing "both sides of the transaction". 2 sides of the deal and only 1% in realty for the buy side. There are no other agents involved so she will be handleing the selling side and the buying side. It is in fact, double work. You found the buyer, not her. The buyer approached YOU, so really, she should reduce her commission. The buyer was found because of the efforts of the realtor. He said he picked up my flyer and still wanted to see/buy my house. This was part of the marketing of the realtor. He wouldnt have known her house was on the market without, postcards, flyers, signs, ads, from the realtor.

I still think salvageable: I would ask them to cut the shelves back to HALF depth. Then in the front area, put your broom, mop and swiffer poles there. If broom won't fit, use a HOLE saw and drill a hole in to the CEILING of that section, so your broom slips up into it and then back down....it will hold it in place. I think any discount you would have negotiated went into the financing. There's no such thing as free financing. If they aren't charging you interest, then they have to make up the cost of not having the cash somehow. And that usually gets built into the sales price. And if I had $8K to blow on bedroom furniture, I'd probably pay an extra $350 to have it delivered to me rather than finding a truck and several friends to haul it up my stairs. I'd get a mattress and a $30 frame and sleep on that with laundry bins for clothes until I was able to save up for the set I wanted. I know it seems wrong to live like a student when you've got a brand new beautiful house. But if you can't afford it, there's no shame in waiting until you can. You'll spend less in the long run. And the tighter money is, the more important it is to save every penny. Oh, and just because he's on salary doesn't mean he doesn't care about making a sale. There may be quotas, or bonuses for reaching certain numbers, or even promotions based on productivity.

Right on, gscience! There's a whole world of auto enthusiasts out there filled with good, helpful folks who are passionate about cars and want to share their knowledge and experiences with others. Autocross looks like an absolute blast as well. This sort of thing is probably in my DNA though, having been raised by a father who was never without a fast car (he raced for a time), and even as an octogenarian drives a collector's Porsche. It's a rewarding (albeit expensive) hobby and I think most people understand that (or at least understand when they DON'T understand and refrain from dissing something they're ignorant about). ;)
