mystery part in my mitsubishi

just pokin' around under the hood of my 2002 galant I notice this contraption on the passenger side of the engine compartment, just behind the coolant reservoir. Looks sort of like a compressor but there is no pulley. Nor are there any wires attached. Maybe a diaphragm of some sort? It's got two rubber gasket sort of things but they are not attached or sealed in in any way. Anybody got a clue as to what this thing is?  |

| Bill, I think it looks more like a reservior for blinker fluid than a muffler bearing. On this model, they moved the muffler bearing closer to the firewall for safety reasons. Terry |

| I'd buy the reservoir option but for the lack of "fallopian tube", hello, I've got to nix that. |
