mystery part in my mitsubishi

just pokin' around under the hood of my 2002 galant I notice this contraption on the passenger side of the engine compartment, just behind the coolant reservoir. Looks sort of like a compressor but there is no pulley. Nor are there any wires attached. Maybe a diaphragm of some sort? It's got two rubber gasket sort of things but they are not attached or sealed in in any way. Anybody got a clue as to what this thing is? mystery part 092508

Bill,

I think it looks more like a reservior for blinker fluid than a muffler bearing. On this model, they moved the muffler bearing closer to the firewall for safety reasons.

I'd buy the reservoir option but for the lack of "fallopian tube", hello, I've got to nix that.
