Carfax - state specific

While researching carfax, I found that there was a lawsuit filed against them in 2004. Allegedly they did not disclose that for some states, they do not get complete accident info from the DMV. They now say that it depends on the actual info that the state requires on their accident reports. I wondered if there was a way to find out how complete the info is for particular states. I'm personally concerned about NJ and PA.

I do know that a carfax report does not replace a thorough inspection of the vehicle; it's just one potential tool. But it would seem to be much more useful in certain states if that allegation is indeed true.

I'd suggest going to the state's DMV site and downloading an accident report form.
