my foot's getting wet

There's water leaking onto my right foot when it's on the gas pedal of my 1996 Honda Accord EX.

The first time the water was freezing cold, so I thought it must have something to do with the air conditioner. However, today, it was very hot -- enough to hurt my toes a little.

Each time it was just a few tablespoons of water -- not a huge gush. What the heck is this? Is it okay to continue driving? For what it's worth, my car sat uncovered in the driveway through a downpour before I drove it today.

Sounds like your heater core has a leak. Is is clean water or does it smell like anti-freeze?

You should probably make arrangements to have it checked.

Maybe you can try some wax paper or a clear white paper towel, placed under the leak area, to make a determination...
Monitor your coolant level, if possible.
We had a 90% trouble free '88 Accord, but it was very difficult to do this - not a good design - but it never leaked either...

I have the same issue and am working on it too. If you hit on a great method, I would love to know! Ponding it isn't an option for me, even though I had a pair of ducks paddling about a few weeks ago..LOL Mine is a large city lot, with heavy clay soil. Two neighbors graded their lots with drainage toward mine (decades ago). When it rains it turns the corner of my yard in to a big giant puddle. It takes days to dry out leaving a squishy mess fit only for weeds. With the loss of the only tree in that area of the yard, it is bound to get worse. I added a layer of black dirt last year, but it didn't make a huge dent. This year, the chips from the stump grinding of the pine tree that pulled up due to the wetness and wind,are being added in to try to lighten the soil. Today I planted a butterfly bush and baby joe pye weed to see if they would grow. It needs something to break up the clay and be able to tolerate wetness in the spring, but hot full sun in the summer. I am trying to figure out what else to plant that might help do this. Any ideas?

Its sort of a seat retaining wall. There is about a foot grade difference on either side of the wall. It will be about 24 inches high on one side and 36 on the other. During my commute to work I see another project and I noticed that the wall there is gravel and a poured pad. Then they used cinder blocks for internal support, and stone around that. I will wait to see the bid before making any decisions or taking up with the contractor, and I will be looking at references and drive by work completed by the contractor before making a decision. As an FYI, I will have a 4 foot retaining wall and that will be poured down 4 feet, or to ledge and pinned, whatever comes 1st. Molly, some of my more ambitious projects are being bid out. Time is an issue. For example, the landscape project and bluestone terraces I was planning to do are being done by professionals. So is the foundations work I was planning to do. I am forced to take smaller projects with shorter completeion cycles, like new walls in a sitting room and installation of interior leaded glass windows between hallways and room. Just no time and the wife seems to be losing patience with projects that go over a month. I can't blame her. My next project is a Post and Beam constructed open wood shed. I intend to pin the hole thing together like in the old days! I have rough sawn 4x6 lying around from my rennovation. I think this should be a fun project!

Hi Dolly, Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your home purchase! I'm a Brooklyn limestone owner and have a very, very good sense of what you are going through. Unfortunately, I'm on my way out the door and can't tarry at this site right now but here are a few quick words of advice: 1. Please do join us at the NYC metro area get together of the GW TKO folks! If you come, you will meet several of us who are in various stages of our renos and have lots of advice and tips to share with you. Plus, we just want to meet and mingle with as many of our great GW family as we can! For more details and to RSVP, see the link below. 2. I currently have Lidingo white cabs in my kitchen. Although I am struggling over whether they are staying or getting replaced with custom cabs, I think they are fabulous -- especially for the price. And their simple, raised panel design works quite well with my old house. If space, budget and time are challenges for you, I doubt seriously you could do much better than Ikea. Ikea rocks! 3. Do not worry about closing on your apartment in one month and the state of your kitchen! Best to get used to the idea that no matter what your timeframe is, your reno is unlikely to go exactly as planned. Although, given where you work, I'm sure you already know this! :) Maybe, at this stage, you might want to concentrate more on the design logistics and stocking of your temporary kitchen and just get used to the concept of delay and changes. Where can I get a 30+ foot extension pole to clean my exterior windows

I have 2nd story windows, I have a telescopic aluminum pole. Believe me, even a pole at that length is a challenge. It's hell on your shoulders to hold the pole, and press against the window, and get the pole up/down, it'a a lot of work. One time to scrub the windows, then bring the pole down, put on the squeegee and pull it up/down to finish the window. Then bring it down again for the next window or two. IMO 30' - 3 stories is impractical.

It's clean water -- no odor or oily feel. It sure is hot though, when it hits my foot. I'll have to stop wearing sandals when I drive until this is fixed. It seems to happen when I go up a steep hill or around a corner. I suppose that could be a coincidence.

Okay, I guess I can't ignore it and hope for the best. I'll call my mechanic in the morning. Sigh. Goodbye $$.

I had a Mercury Cougar several years ago.That every time it rained my foot got wet.Or the floor board would get wet if it was sitting out.Turned out it was a rusted hole in the firewall.The water came in the vented area between the hood and windshield and ran in near the gas pedal.Maybe the heat from the engine is making the water hot?

Turns out that the drain from the AC was clogged, so it was draining onto my foot. A simple and, more important, inexpensive solution. Thanks for your input.

That( a clogged drain) it what I thought it was.
This is very common, debris must find its way into the air box and then into the drain..
But with the popular cabin filter, I thought this event to be impossible.
My car is also doing the same thing - easy to tell - those cars with a good clear system leave a spot that would go a water buffalo proud.
But the '96 Saab leaves half the condensate on the rug and the rest thru the drain,,

I wear sandals all summer and when that very cold or very hot water suddenly dripped on my toes, it sure startled me! I even started keeping a closed toe shoe in the car to keep my foot dry. All is solved, until the next thing comes up.

The worst leak I had was clogged drains from the sunroof. I'd back out of the driveway and when I went forward, a bucket of water would pour on my head and shoulder. That was in an '87 Honda.
