Problem, help please

I recently purchases a '99 mazda 626 5 spd manual that i got for a really good deal. But I have a little problem with it. When I give it alot of gas and try to gun, that whole car jerks back and forth a couple times. I am sure it is not the clutch because it has been recently replaced. The only other thing I could think of is the timing might be off. I was wondering if anybody knew what might be happening and maybe how to fix it.

This could be a bad MAF sensor(manifold air flow),but this is but a guess.
Do you have any service history ? The PO may know of this problem, even the solution, but did not want to spend the bucks..
I'd say this vehicle needs at least a real major tune up check and clean all the sensors, etc).
Were this a carburetor car, I'd say the accelerator pump, but not timing..
Good luck, but be prepared to spend the $$$s.

im sorry.. i didnt read every post, but i read atleast half temp is likely 1 of a combo of issues its an eco system so theres variables high temp breads bad pathogens requiring more vigorious work sterilzing the water so if your temps are high try adding hydrogen peroxide, you could also try using sm90 in the res or dutchmaster zone, hygrozyme.. some use chlorine but its tricky! if you could keep the temps at 65 you would need less of these sterilizers but likely still need them marginally as for lack of air...not likely since the roots are suspended in air.. or are the sitting in the water 24/7 like a DWC cuz then ya it could be loss of air inn the water but with it spraying around consently i dont think so i use an areo but only for cloning so my roots dont sit in the water personally i would use the hydrogen peroxide every 3 days at 11ml /gallon using the 3% stuff from the grocery store .. or if you use the food grade 35% 1 ml/gln the roots you have are pretty bad so im not sure theyre gonna ever look good but you might be able to spring new healthy roots... the hygrozyme i mention cuz it will also help with removing the dead roots they say (the manufacturer) you can use hygrozyme along with the peroxide but im not positive the peroxide doesnt have an effect on the hygrozyme.. supposably its an enzyme (not a beneficial bacteria) thus the peroxide doesnt harmm it if you wanted to go thru the trouble to keep them seperate.. add the perxide on replacing the res contents and then add the hygrozyme the next day for the remainder of the week and repeat the h202 (peroxide) will sterilze the roots and the water for a few hours,, killing the pathogens and it evaporates quick so the next day add the hygrozyme sometime the water source can have pathogens,, well water hasnt been chlorinated nor is RO water that came from a well... you can use a UV light or h202 or bleach or dutchmaster zone which is similar to bleach... the sm90 is a great product.. im not sure why theyy advertize the spreader/sticker aspect so much cuz its great for cleaning up roots and encouraging growth,, but not strong enough alone to fix your problem i would consider the sm90 as a preventitive option.. its got oils in it that i assume disrupt the bad bacteria i also suspect it has some root enhancing hormones cuz the effect on root growth is wow i have never actually used dutch master zone cuz i can by bleach much cheaper lmao basicly its a longer lasting form of chlorine.. only benefit over chlorine is that chlorine disapates rapidly and this product doesnt next issue will be bugs eating your dead roots and attacking your sickly plants so you might as well look at some serenade and maybe some biological misquito control (BMC same as gnatrol but liquid) if you get fungus gnats as for your design.. i dont think it has anything to do with the root issues except perhaps the issue of stagnent water with low o2 i use http://www.altgarden.com/hydroponics-testing/air-pumps/micro-pore-air-diffusers-4.html and a high quality high output air pump the above mention diffuser makes a big difference and lasts forever as long as you dont drop it and break it

Looks like some nice scale you've got there! ians_gardener is right on the money with the rubbing alcohol. That stuff does wonders for getting rid of scale. My only issue with it is the cost, though - for a whole tree, you'd need a lot of the stuff! If I had this problem, I'd probably try scraping the scale off or dislodging them with a high pressure hose before I did anything else. Sometimes manually removing the bulk of scale insects is enough to stop them from causing any noticeable damage (when the plant is outdoors). Besides, it's practically impossible to eliminate them entirely.

Does the little clock at bottom right of screen keep time and date OK ? Im just guessing that the little coin battery that keeps track of the cmos/bios settings for the hardware has failed.. that's why you see I/O, hard drive, and why the keypress didn't work.... from what you have said. Needs that motherboards $2 big watch coin battery replaced maybe.. That battery also keeps your time and date correct. Rina, All of my plants are in ProMix cactus mix, I have also added perlite to make it more airy. All of my plants are currently out doors getting amazing sun, my backyard is a north facing backyard, but there is one part that always gets sun. Once summer is done I will be bringing th indoors under a grow lights. The G. Fred Ives doesn't look leggy, but the dark green one with the little hairs at the tips of the leaves is pretty leggy. Not sure what to do about that one... Sorry, my phone wouldn't post it ride side up. Will this guy grow new rosettes if I behead it? Thanks, Czarina

Motor mounts would be my suspicion unless he's describing severe wheel hop.

The Clutch would be the first thing I would check. You said it was recently replaced and that's what leads me to believe your problem lies there. When it was put back together it's very possible that the shop could have accidently got grease or oil onto the disk or pressure plate. If it was very recent, as in still under warranty, take it back to them and ask them to inspect it. Was this problem there before the clutch was installed ? Good luck

There are any number of things this could have been. If it went to a shop thats experienced with these they probabaly got it fixed already. The most common causes of this symptom are a bad hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body, and of course secondary ignition (plugs, wires, coils ect.)

But then again this is the problem with trying to picture what the car is doing just by the written descritpion above. Getting to feel the trouble, and then test and inspect for ones self makes a big difference.

You have received some good advice..
With all this herky-jerkiness occurring - I still suspect the MAF system.

Please get back to us....not "use", but "us"...

You might be able to disconnect the MAF and see if that changes anything. I'm not sure if Mazdas will run with the MAF disconnected..Fords will though, and that's how I found out that the hesitation problem I was having with my old car was NOT a MAF problem.

It was an ignition problem..caused, as far as I can tell, by grimy dirt from the sparkplug socket getting on the sparkplug insulators and causing a misfire. The sparkplug boots had marks on the inside like they had been arcing over, and so did the porcelain insulator on the plug. This had been the second time I replaced them too. After saying outloud "WHAT CAUSES THIS!!!!" with nobody else around..I had an epiphany and looked at the sparkplug socket which was quite filthy. I cleaned it out, replaced the plugs and wires, and it's been fine for 30,000 miles.

Now I make sure to clean my sparkplug socket before I use it.

Vehicle firing electrical parts seem to vary greatly in quality, if you can afford it get the OEM wire set and distributor cap from a dealer, my chevy truck was burning out aftermarket autozone dist caps every 12k to 20k (4 in a row) last one I installed 70k ago was a dealer cap/rotor button along with a dealer wire set, cost about twice as much. I could tell no difference in just looking at the parts, all I can tell you is it is a much better product and I have had no more problems. Anyone else run into this?
