Nice forking tire shop. Went back to look at the two cars again. There is something wrong. Sure enough. The 96 has 205/60/r15. the 95 has 205/65/r15. Well the 96 is supposed to have 215/65/r15 at 33 lbs. and the 95 is supposed to have 215/70/r15 at 35 lbs. I thought the deck hight was low on both cars. It gets better. I checked the tire pressure on the 96. Right front 18,left front 30,right rear 27,left rear31. That explains the left pull on the 96. what the hell is this industry coming to ? They replaced what was on the vehical and didn't even check to see if the car had the wrong tires. Do you take a safe off the same way as it went on ? NOT. If i pulled that stunt off in my early years i'd be out of a job faster than you could wipe out .2 on a tail light bulb change in a flat rate shop. I just tore a new pie hole in the tech of the front end shop yesterday and sending the car back. Now i have to appologize to this poor men. ( car is going back anyway ). Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the garage. Oh Yah. I finished the 30 day inspection on the old ladys 94 sunday and the right rear wheel cylinder is leaking. It wasn't leaking 30 days ago. When does it stop ? We've had 3 weeks of -30 with -42 wind chill. Maybe that has something to do with it. Yes the tires do freeze and form a flat spot over night. It goes away in about 1/2 mile and your down to about 6 miles to the gal. Normal winter up here. At $4.82 cents a gallon it gets a little pricey. You guys complain about $2.50 a gallon and it's Canadian gas! I feel so sorry for you it makes my laugh. Sorry guys. Not having a good day. I have 4 new tires that i can do nothing with. Oh well, i'll just put them in stock you never know.Have a good weekend.

Most engines are "interference" engines, they need to specifically designed to be otherwise. The old GM engines from the 70s didn't have a belt or a chain - the camshaft ran off a spur gear. When that disintegrated, the pistons would push the valves up against little resistance. They were interference engines. If you break a timing belt there is no connection between the camshaft and the crankshaft, so the pistons just push the valves back up against no pressure and nothing gets broken. On a timing chain engine, the chain usually breaks on one side only, so it is still connected to the camshaft. ======================================================================================================================== John999: No offense intended but your statement regarding Chvy engines from the 70s' in not at all correct. Almost ALL of those were run by a timing CHAIN . Cars and even some of the pick-ups used a CAM gear that had nylon teeth. When the teeth wore down enough, the Chain would jump a tooth and you'd have to go in and replace it. I personally hate nylon faced gears, opting instead for a good ole fasioned Cloyes Double roller set-up. In thier aim to quiet things down, the manufacturer made one more thing to wear out long before it should,based on it's original design. Now if you want to really get serious, go with a gear drive setup...AHHHH Love the sound of those.

Thank you for your quick reply! I will check out the information and NOFMA. I emailed the owner in the interim and have since spoken to him - he was on his way here and has now arrived. He told me that the wood was dried to a moisture content of 6-8%. He said that it has been in a heated building since then (either at the mill or his shop) He tells me the wood was kiln dried then went to the company that milled it then went to his shop (in first post I incorrectly stated that it was at his house) that has radiant heat where it was planed and has been stored. It was delivered on his truck and was not exposed to rain/snow. The material that was delivered yesterday will sit over the weekend and will not be installed (until the earliest next Tuesday, so that would be 4 days). The material that was in the garage is what is being installed today. I do trust this company and the owner to do a good job. They do very nice work and are respected in the community. He assured me that what was more important than just acclimation is the moisture content of the wood on installation. He noted that letting wood sit for a longer time wouldn't necessarily be the answer. That it depends on the condition it was stored and the moisture content. He said he did not do a moisture test but that the mill or the supplier (I can't remember which one he said) tested the wood for moisture content. How easy or difficult is that to do - and should I really expect him to do a moisture reading now? Thank you again.

Yesterday hubby and I were back in the old neighborhood. We stopped by my son's apartment but he wasn't home. We ended up eating Taco's at a local establishment, boy were they good! I forgot to stop by a different restaurant while in the area. They have a great antipasto salad, huge portion for 6.99 and it includes a loaf of italian bread and garlic butter. I can get three meals (for myself) or a family serving of this salad. I could never be able to buy all those vegetables for 6.99 (plus the time to chop everything! I try to make time when I'm in the area to get a salad to go. Oh well, the tacos were great and we did bump into old friends!
