how far with the donut?

I blew out a rear tire last week on my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. I replaced with the spare "donut" stored in the trunk. I know it's only a temporary fix but what I need to know is how far I can safely go with it? I know the obvious answer is probably going to be as little as possible but because of financial restraints how far is far enough?

Don't know for sure but they seem to wear out pretty fast. Watch the tread as you would your other tires.

Are all your other tires shot? Did you ruin the one that went flat? If not, flat repair probably around $10. Used tire mounted and balanced probably $40. If you can't afford that, you can't afford to drive anyway.

What are you going to do if you happen to have another flat before you fix the last one? A whole new set of tires today will be more cost effective than a tow bill, field service, or impound fee. You can't be that broke.

It's printed on your spare tire rim. Read. Unless your sticker fell off it says. " Temporary use only in emergencies.Do not exceed 50 m.p.h. under any circumstances. Replace with proper tire A.S.A.P ". That spare tire is nylon so when you mix it with radial tires
you will be in for a very interesting ride.

Ok, so I just set the plant in the dog run where it is all cement and where the dogs won't pee on it. It'll be happy there. Didn't know mealies could catch a ride on ants, spiders, etc. lindasewandsew, I've used dish soap/water on whiteflies, but never thought about using it on mealies. But I'd be afraid to dunk the whole thing! But then, it'd sure get rid of the ones hiding under dead leaves that I might not see. I like the idea of drowning the little critters. dellis530, I used rubbing alcohol on the tiny echeveria on my window sill several days ago and it dripped down into the soil. That must be why I haven't seen any more mealies. I thought it would kill the plant, but it must have killed anything in the soil instead. Yea! cactusmcharris, now I find out that there are different kinds of mealies!!! And some attack roots? Now that's a great reason to do a soil drench! Or dunk the whole thing in a bucket. What is a "51 bottle?" I gather that it is like a gallon of rubbbing alcohol? Since it's been years since I've had a mealy, and now I've had two plants attacked, there probably is a neighbor who has an infestation of them and they are making their way to my yard. It happens with wasps too.

Not too early at all! We started with a floor plan Jan 2008, and made many, many changes to it with the builder's designer (a very patient guy!!). Everytime we made changes, we kind of sat with the changes for a few weeks and 'lived' in the house on paper (if that makes sense). We found that having the time helped us greatly to think everything single detail out. We also made selections for fixtures, flooring, cabinets, and got price quotes from various sources. Only then (in November) did we sign a formal contract. With our current home which we also custom built, we signed a contract too quickly and then once the build started, we incurred numerous costly change orders. We did not realize that we had signed on a very low bid for the home, with inadequate allowances for almost everything. This time, we were well armed with what it would actually cost for all items. That way, we could discuss/negotiate with the builder before we signed on a realistic price for the home. So far, (we broke ground in nov.), there have been no plan changes or other finish changes (that would constitute a change order plus upcharge). So, spend the time....if the builder truly wants your business, he should be more than willing to be patient with you. And only after you are 100 % happy with the floor plan and all the various selections should you send it out for bids. Good luck!

We seriously considered purchasing a home about an hour and a half away, in good weather. In the winter, it could take hours and hours. An old historical home in the high country at 6100 ft elevation. In the end we decided it was much cheaper to rent the cabin for a week a year, buy investment property closer with a positive cash flow year round. Of course, this is California and NOTHING is cheap. An extra $1600. a month house payment just didn't make sense. But we were tempted until we learned the house has been for sale for three years. LOL. We'd have to keep it permanently on the market if we ever hoped to sell it again. So much for those high country Gold Rush towns in the Sierras that we love so much. Also, once you own a property, those vacation weekends quickly turn into work weekends. We decided to keep it as a vacation spot.

well I can't remember the last time I ate a donut so I kinda doubt it, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying a bite. I do love sweet and savory together, my husband doesn't. We both like egg sandwiches on occasion. We are both avoiding this kind of stuff, you know come to think about it I don't think I have ever been in a Dunkin Donuts or had one, I have years ago had Krispy Kreme which was super sweet.

in my area of detroit here, people consider these temporary spares to be permanent repairs, capable of highway speed of 80 or more.

A new Donut tire can run for about 50 miles or so till you get a new tire. There not made to be driven on for long periods of time, Especially since it makes your car uneven and most the weight of the car is being driven on the donut tire and not all 4 tires and this causes alot of wear and tear on the on the donut tire. DON'T waste the tire till its done, You may need it in Emergencies. Why have to buy another Donut tire cause you wore it out driving on it.

Believe it or not, the Galant came with a tire iron, but the wrong size. Luckily we have free courtesy patrol here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and they helped me out. I'm grateful for their service but that didn't stop me from buying a 4-way lug wrench. Who tries out the tire iron at the dealership lot anyway?

In April 2011 I blew a tyre in outback NSW Australia. I replaced the 255/55R18 tyre with a donut. Due to the unavailability of this tyre I drove 1400kms to Dubbo. This included 400 kilometres of gravel roads.
