Help truck sluggish at takeoff RPM's running high

Posted by lilsprout (My Page) on

I have a 2002 sonoma that is very sluggish at takeoff. The RPM's are running at about 2500 until I let off on the gas. Someone suggested checking my trans fluid. It was a little low, so I added some but no difference. Also no slipping of trans going on.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thank you so much...

Hey Bill.. That';s about as good of a guess as anything, and yes you would be correct, that is one of the possibilites. Seriously, though lilsprout should not just run out and have the torque convertor replaced to see if that fixes it. Its going to need proper testing to determine the cause.

Well I took it and had the codes (check engine) read. It ended up being the shift b solenoid for the trans. Took it to trans shop and had both the a and b solenoids replaced along with a new filter. $260. Phew....not as bad as I thought it would be.
