geneo, where are you located? do you think that hurricane isaac had anything to do with it? it hit on aug 29. has there been any chemical spraying going on in your area? for mosquitoes? maybe someone nearby is putting out feeders for the fall migrations and the birds have found that and are all congregating there? I put out black sunflower seeds and get lots of bird visitors. I put out some small seeds on the ground for the doves. I didn't have lot of hummers this summer but right now there are plenty of them. And I noticed last evening tons of cardinals. For rockguy, it is a pain but you must change the hummer solution often. I do it every weekend, I just keep 3 feeders on my large back porch periphery. One of them has a screw on/off top (instead of at the bottom) which is much much easier to clean and change. Right now the hummers are migrating thru and so if you put them out now you'll probably get a bunch til october. Laurie in tupelo ms

Ok...my problem is sorta solved. I got a letter from GW. They removed all the threads...there were 2 ,because there weren't any pics showing anymore !! Haha...so how did the pics get taken off ??? I have no clue. They are in the same place in my photobucket album now as they were to start. They also moved my "where did the thread go " to convo kitchen side where it was deemed more appropriate...huh . So if I knew how the pics s__l__o__w__l__y were removed , cause it didn't happen all at once...then I would know more. Guess it will remain a mystery. But I was told that if a thread has the pics removed then the thread will be removed by GW and they gave me a link to the rules. It was a nice note :) c

Lisa You left long pieces to callus, so that is what's happening. Over all, not really a problem, rather 'cosmetic'. Next time you prune, leave just couple of mm after the "ring"; there will be much less flesh to scab over/callus and they will just pop off when dry. There will be probably new growth appearing faster too - at least that is my experience. You won't have big pieces trying to dry up and looking bit ugly - as the pieces I circled. I had many ugly ends too at first :)Cutting them closer on piece you keep (and also trimming end of pruned off piece if you want to root it) is beneficial not only because it looks better. There will be less live tissue exposed to any possibility of infection (doesn't really happen much with jades); cut ends will callus much faster and as I mentioned, faster budding or branching. What succulentlife mentioned is also true, but flesh usually looks more dark - again, just what I have experienced on very few occasions. It probably happens much easier in hot & humid climate.

Mystery leaf cuttings that I can't identify yet. I got a single string of String of Pearls from a friend. I cut off a tip of the string as another way to propagate it. The main string has only grown one root, but this little one is doing great. I want to see how far I can take this in a few years. It's in a 1 1/2" pot.
