Jaqueline, it is interesting his explanation for the fact that only the tips of the leaves are burnt. I would like to look for information on this fact. Is it possible that the rose bush stops sending sap to some parts to preserve others from death? I mean if that botanically is possible? I will imagine the explanation of the process. Maybe it's a crazy idea but I'll expose it: It occurs to me to think now what happens in autumn. As temperatures drop, the rosary is ready for winter. Before dropping the leaves the rose bush "recovers" the nutrients from the leaves and accumulates them in the roots. Then, since it is not going to specify the leaves for photosynthesis, the amount of abscisic acid and ethylene increases, and this increase causes that in the zone of abscission (leaf-to-stem bonding) the leaf detachment finally occurs . In this case it is not a matter of recovering the nutrients from the leaves nor does the rosal need to be detached from them because it will continue to specify them for photosynthesis and transpiration. Ethylene and abscisic acid do not increase and so leaf detachment does not occur (leaf senescence). It only allows the tips of the leaves to die, leaving the part that is possible to them alive. This part of the saved leaf of death will continue to be useful for photosynthesis. Hahahaha Sorry It was just an idea of what could happen. Should be an amateur with botanical knowledge who could tell us if this is really the process or we are in error.

Thank you. Paul, the Interpretive Designs are written up with very specific requirements. With those it is more a matter of meeting the design requirements rather than show standards. For example, one Natural Design did not get judged because the grower used a gesnariad instead of a violet in the arrangement. My entry for Shipwreaked Dreams did get judged though I think I misunderstood the term 'interacting containers' from the description. I also missed the mark on balance and colors. I chalk it up to inexperience, but nonetheless, I won a ribbon for best Novice Design! Someone told me I might have won something more if I had used the shell arrangement alone and competed that as a dish garden.

Definitely the darker leather…great color with which to work. Is the ottoman custom or part of the package? Is the plaid your only choice? It would work better with a gray leather. If plaid is it, you can make it work, by tying everything in with throw pillows in similar colors. These are just ideas as I can tell the true color of the plaid.

Must have worked Julia cuz I can see your post . Have you noticed that the purples seem to be dominant when it comes to "splotching" ? Most of my other blooms are fine but if I am going to see splotchiness then I will see it in my purples . I wonder if it has anything to do with the color. Many of my purples wash out when it rains . Almost as if the purple is just laid on the top of the bloom and is not an integral part of the petals . Not sure this makes any sense but that is what I see here .
