how do auctions work?

Never purchased a car at an auto auction before, but

I hear you can find some good deals.

I never down the auction thing before. I'm clueless.

How does it work?

Can someone give me the auto auction crash course?

Some auto auctions are closed to the public.Others the public is welcome.Make sure it is a titled vehical your bidding on.Not all of them example drug seized vehicals are not always titled.

Becareful of what your bidding on.Wheres it from?New Orleoans or Mississipii or Florida?If so was it flooded?Also look out for the ones with remanufactured titles.

Some will alow you to drive them before the sale on the auction grounds only.Not much of a test and more of a gamble.Best to go before the sale to see them drive in.Or see if there hauled in.However many are hauled in anyway even if there the cream of the crop.

Try to figure out who is bidding.If there ''jockeys''used car dealers they want them cheap and will stop bidding however they have friends in the business and help each other by running up the bids.Its a gamble becareful.

thanks for the thoughful advice and pitfalls.
Sounds like auto auctions may not be for everyone.
I had a neighbor once that swore by them, but
I recall he had some sort of agent working for him.
Anyway, I like a good deal, but not much of a gambler. thanks again.

For as long as I can take it, and usually every day. Sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes 3-4 hours total, but that would be in several spurts with breaks, maybe a meal in between. That would include everything from pulling whatever weeds I see, to watering, to grooming/deadheading, fixing stray grass coming through a border, fertilizing. All of this stuff I really think of as puttering, not working, because I like doing it. Most of my perennials are shrubs or other plants that don't need much done to them. There are the occasional heavy chores that are actual work, but they're fairly rare and well spaced. I no longer have to do the mowing, so that's made a HUGE difference in time and effort spent elsewhere. I find this has me tackling more tougher tasks more often, trying things I wouldn't have felt like I had time for before. Awesome! But, I can't go at it like I used to in my younger years. I still get asked for my ID but if you look closely, you'll see the gray hairs, bifocals, arthritic thumbs. Don't think I'll ever acclimate to the oppressive heat down here although I prefer to live here. Thank God for A/C! Going outside in summer here is like going outside in winter up north. If you stay too long, it could kill ya.

Yes, they are divisions of divisions of divisions (and so on) of the original plant. That is the ONLY way to get more of any particular daylily. Daylily seeds each make something new, not copies of the mother plant. Tissue culture as I undestand it is only done by the sources for the big box stores. They also sell unnamed seedlings on the Lily Auction but they are in a separate Catagory. Thanks for the compliment on the raised beds. I really didn't have much choice but it do it that way since I wanted useable garden space in those areas that used to be too much downhill slope. The upstairs backyard planter plateau was not created by putting those blocks on level ground and then filling in with soil but rather it was created by cutting into a downward slope until the back part butting against the cinder blocks reached level ground and then filling in the front to make it all one big even garden bed.

I had wondered if Annette Rice was going to put LOTUS POSITION up for Auction on the LA, in fact I asked but did not get an answer. So when I saw it listed elsewhere (Fishman, Herbie Phelps) thats were I bought it. I got two fans so I did good but now that I bought it, Annette FINIALLY put one up on the LA for sale. Figgures!

I got my Mustang through the auction. But I had a friend who does that all of the time find the car and make the deal. All I had to do is be patient and have him watch for the model that I wanted. Even then it's still a risk, the only advantage being that I can fix anything mechanical that might become an issue. All in all I will say I got my car at a great price, and even managed to make it a business asset, which allows me to write a percentage of it off.

The point is, even with me having the ability to repair any mechanical issues with it, I still relied on someone who really knew that game to actually buy the car. It really takes that kind of a combination to do well in that atmosphere.
