99 windstar van. drivers seat cushion outside edge is mush. non-power seat. anyone know if i can swap the seat bottom from pass side to driver side? i am ok with taking the seats apart. done it on other cars. just not sure how much the seat itself can be taken apart. pass side is nice and firm. of course it gets a fraction of the use the drivers side gets.

RE: windstar seats

Intriguing idea. The left and right seats would have to be symmetrical for this to work. Before you begin, make sure that the seats are not unique. Many that I have seen have left and right construction due to the outer forward corner having a larger radius.

The other item is weight sensors. There may be weight sensors built into the seats that modifies the deployment of the air bags. Are these sensors the same in both seats? And the connectors?

Please let us know what you find.

RE: windstar seats

i swapped seats on my 79 camaro. seat cushion was the same but track was different so i just unbolted that stuff. no difference in cushion firmness. waste of time. but good intent. van has lower miles but must have been delivery purpose. seat cushion is shot. i don't want another used seat from a junkyard or someone parting a van out. i know pass side seat is much better candidate. its my dads van and he lives 90 miles away and i don' see him that often. i will continue to investigate.
