| I just purchased a set of Autolite AP3924 spark plugs for a Mazda Protege 1.8L 1999 engine. The chart shows the gap as 0.044" and the plug socket size as 5/8". What is the correct torque for tightening these plugs?
Thanks,

| mike, Thanks good information, The Autolite web site lists for 14mm Gasket Seat: Cast Iron 26-29 ft lbs, and for Aluminum 15-22 ft lbs. Well, not knowing what head the Protege has I looked again in the Haynes manual and found for Spark plugs: 11-16 ft lbs. This says Aluminum and is a lower range than the Autolite information. I think I'll go with the maximum from Haynes, which is just over the minimum from Autolit, i.e., 16 ft lbs. Thanks for the help. |

| Hi, You wrote : " Well, not knowing what head the Protege has I looked again in the Haynes manual and found for Spark plugs: 11-16 ft lbs. " Don't you have a MAGNET ? As for the Torque, 16-18 Ft. Lbs. should be fine. |
