| I have a 2002 Subaru Outback. It has about 49k and I bought it new. Several months ago I had the air filter replaced. Every since then the engine seems to be louder when it used to be really quiet. I took it back to the shop and was told every thing was fine. They said that the new air filters make the engine sound louder. Does this sound right? I am considering taking it to a Subaru dealership where I bought it but it is quite some distance away. |

| A new air filter should not make the car louder. Take it to a licensed mechanic and ask them about your noise. |
|
| Open the air box and take a look to see if there is filter in there, or was it left out. |
