Look for the vent - looks like a piece of garden hose on top toward the rear of the transmission. Clean around it, pull the hose out, stick a pencil/wooden dowel to measure level of oil. My understanding is that they take 20-50W oil. I would add until it is 3/4" from top. -- That is what I did to my MTD Yardmachine, I am assuming that your system will be very similar. It worked like magic on mine! When you check the level, look at the color of the oil on the measuring stick - if it looks like it is toasted you may want to suck it out and replace it. Hello Marco, I hope your project is coming along well. I have had two Wheel Horse tractors with Sundstrand transaxels. The first was 14 years old when I got it. My Current tractor is a Wheel Horse Charger made in 1969. Both are 100% reliable. These tractors use a single forward/reverse lever control located just to the right of the steering wheel. No "cruise control" is required as the lever will stay where you put it. The tractor can be stopped by returning the lever to the middle position. There is a foot pedal that can do this. I find this very handy. The foot pedal on these tractors is on the left, Familar to me since I grew up driving a WH suburban manual with the combined clutch/brake on the left. But probably this should be on the right for optimal ergonomics. I agree with others who say that hydro is the way to go 100%. When mowing not only is it good when you need to back up or manuver, it is also very good for when you hit a thick patch of grass or have to slow down to negotiate a slope. I also use a dozer balde/snow plow and having the ability to go from forward to reverse to forward is really nice. The only real disadvantages I am aware of is the fact that hydros use more gas, and cost more. So, if you can improve the efficiency that would be good. Or maybe reduce complexity or weight. The other thing I like with the Sundstrand is they have ports for other hydraulic attachements. I wish the were brought out to some sort of common fitting (or quick fit) so that adding accessories would be a matter of modular connections versus having to remove plugs, add shimes, etc to use this feature.

well, it's been almost a year since I repurchased my old 96 Accord. Decided I'd give an update. The car is still going, but has had some issues. Not too surprising since the dern thing is on it's way to 400,000 miles. I'm sitting at a few clicks shy of 330,000 right now. I've really saved a lot of miles on the 06 and have driven the 96 on quite a few road trips this year. My biggest problem has been with leaks. I never realized just how many places there were for oil/fluids to escape from! Lol. I've had to replace my heater hoses, rear wheel bearings and a radiator fan. My driver's side power window is completely out of whack, the steering wheel is so worn and loose that I have to hold it at the 6 0'clock position, there is a hole in the carpet below the accelerator, interior door handles have broken off, numerous interior lights are burned out, interior rattles/creaks, ABS light stays on and the check engine light goes on/off randomly. The first time it was on, it was diagnosed as being a clogged throttle body/EGR ports. Now, I'm not real sure... probably a sensor, though my gas mileage is still what it should be and the car seems to be running properly. The engine continues to start every time and just keeps running on. The rest of the car is really starting to show it's wear and tear from the high mileage, but the engine still starts, runs and sounds the same it did when I first bought the car many years back with only 45,000 miles. I'm truly blown away by it. While I worry a little that something might break on me, I never worry that it's going to be the engine. I didn't think I'd ever put this car back on the highway for the long trips, but it is still able to handle them (well, the engine still can, anyway). The AC, cruise control and sunroof still work, though! The Honda reman. trans. has continued to disappoint... but it's still working, so I'm not going to complain too much. If it ever dies, I'll just have the engine yanked out and put into a better body. I'm really curious to know just how far this stupid thing will go. Also, update on the 06... just over 60k miles (I'd have closer to 90k if it weren't for the 96!) and it's held up exceptionally well. Still feels like a brand new car to me. It does have some rattles in the interior that have come back, but I haven't had to do squat to the car other than put gas in it, change the oil and drive it. It's still got a LOOONG way to go before it proves as good (hopefully better) than the 96.

I love when I have driven the CRV that a parent drives, its a wonderful vehicle, its old though from 1995 and so don't know what the up to date ones are like to drive and insides of it. My brother got a toyota rav4; love riding in it in the back seat, so comfortable and fancy everything they go in it, the new keyless, the dual heat/air conditioning which again is so awesome so driver and passenger the temepratures they want on them. My brother splurged since he drove through the mountains and one area he couldn't hear the radio and so got the satellite radio put in and wow, you can hear really great stations on it. Its way too small I feel for them right now as they go skiing themselves and sons and their bikes they have too as they bring them out to where they have a condo. And too fancy I felt for what they have used their huge vehicle they had before. I have sat in the back of the cvr and found it find but the only complaint for me is all vehicles the seat belts in the back seats strangle me and tighten and you can't loosen it up in the back seats. I hope those that are talking vehicles do try them all out. I did when I went looking for vehicle in 2010 and I wanted one that I could see when driving as they make dashboards, etc. too high for men and not thinking of women driving. Same with seat belts too, can they be moved down to women height to use. How is the highway noise and can you hear yourselves talking or the radio on? And if you live in a really hot temperatures, then make sure you get the right air conditioning as the bigger vehicles like those you really get good air but the smaller ones like mine, ou don't get it as much. Same with heat, if you live in cold temperatures, make sure too that you check that out. Check the windows as I don't like the back windows in like the subaru forester my dad has as it would come down a bit and so sitting in the back you couldn't get them down like you wanted too. How is the visiblity, if you struggle backing up due to not seeing well if you are short then go to a parking lot when test driving it and back up and see how it works for you. Also are the mirrors good too for bakcin up and using for yourself? What things come with that type of vehicle and do you like it all? I checked for like where can you put things you need in the car, what size is the back trunk area and what do you put and carry, what things do you buy and need space to buy and carry it and bring it home. does it fit your parking that you will park it in, also how easy is it to park it in parking lots as the spaces got smaller to park in then back out of them. How easy it is to turn it around corners,etc. Also where they put the automatic too, on the crv 1995 its way up at the steering wheel and the subaru forestor my dads has it down and mine is at an angle. Check too the pedals as soo many are as they age not stepping on the right pedal, gas instead of brake so check them all out, how fast can you stop it? I found with my many vehicles I wanted to find I didn't have alot of those problems anymore. My one frustration with new ones is the back windows are dinky size, not the nice big ones they used to have so I have to use mirrors and turn and watch and its hard these days due people walking everywhere and behind you and vehicles too and so its alot to watch. Can you safely reach knobs that you must while driving and not stray you from watching the road?????? How do things work, make sure they show you if you aren't sure, don't go home and go, ummm, I can do this but can't. Don't be afraid to keep coming back and trying things out, I did with my matrix. Also asked about this and that too. One guy told me he would throw in the liner in the back trunk area but the guy that sold it to us didn't, said now when he asked someone. Also I consider waiting if your old vehicle is still good to drive and get the colour and seats in it that you want if you drive it until its done for like 10 years. And take care of it too, so many do not but if you take it in regularly and get the work done and check ups, your car will last long time for you. Only you will know what fits well with your life style and if you drive lots and long distances you do what something that is comfortable both back and front seats plus good trunk space too. There isn't anything worse then sitting in the back and the driver doesn't and its so uncomfortable back there.
