Well, Chris, it seems like there's a lot of underlying things in your post above. A lot of things go on in families that others don't see. I "hear" your resentment and duly noted the word "demanding." Some older people are just like they always have been, only more so, pleasant or not. Love and guilt, love and guilt. That's a razor's edge to try to cope with, so try to do your best for her while keeping yourself intact. Some folks get angry at life in general (can't hardly blame them) when they're confined to a care facility. I see in your profile you are a master gardener. Any way you could work a swap of the loan of a truck for some of your skills? Just wanted to try to cheer you up a bit. Good luck.

Sylvia, In Ontario, before one can sell a vehicle one must purchase from The Department of Motor Vehicles a packet of materials that must be filled out giving a good deal of the pedigree of the vehicle. I think that s/he can not transfer the registration of the vehicle without parts of it. Anyone who buys a vehicle here without that packet of information has rocks in his/her head. In some provinces, I believe that the registration plates go with the vehicle, so if the new owner neglects to register the transfer, the problem that you refer to could develop. But they, too usually carry a date, which enables law enforcement people to ascertain easily whether required renewals are current. The annual notice about your requirement to renew your vehicle registration would be sent to your address. Here, however, a renewal sticker carrying a month must be bought annually to affix to the licence plate - in my case, as I was born in January, my current stickers read "Jan '04". In order to obtain that renewal, the new owner must sign an application certifying insurance coverage, etc. - which would mean that s/he would have to forge your name. Which, in the case that you describe, would get him/her into deep doo-doo when the authorities caught up to her/him. Not a wise course of action. But it could cause you trouble until your birth month rolled around. Also, when you go to renew your vehicle registration next year, all of your unresolved traffic, parking tickets, etc. have been sorted by the computer to be added to your account, so you must pay the annual registration fee - plus the price of all those misdemeanors. No pay - no play. Or - you don't get your licence renewal. In Ontario I own the plates, so when I sell the car I take them off. If the new owner wants to keep them on until s/he can drive it somewhere, I go along to remove them when s/he arrives at the vehicle's new home. None of this, "I'll just return them to you tomorrow, to save you the trouble", kind of stuff. My ownership of the plates has one drawback - if I'm not to get a replacement vehicle, to which I could transfer them on the vehicle registry, (paying a fee, of course), the plates sit on a shelf bringing me no benefit for the balance of the year whose renewal I'd paid for. If the new owner hasn't taken a set of plates from a vehicle that's been disposed of, s/he must go to buy a new set. A situation that does not entirely displease the Department of Motor Vehicles. Interested as they are, in common with all wage earners, in increasing their income. joyful guy

***SIGH*** I hear you! Where I "used" to live in PA,we could go away for a week and let the door unlocked.Here...we had to put up locked gates because the freaks back the alley have teenagers that think it's ok to walk in my carport and take...my lawnmower and our tools when they need money.We learned the hard way that this isn't our small hometown....now we lock everything up.Wonder what the kids back the alley are doing for money these days? Brats! Then they come past and say"good Evening" real sweet! Grrrrr! The neighbor saw them taking my stuff ,I should have called the cops but he wasn't SURE which kid it was.There are about 5 of them back there.More on any given day. Cops are always back there.Only bad family on our street! (Of course there's only 5 houses here counting the one on the corner.)

I did purchase my new King mattress from the same local manufacturer that made my custom rv mattress. I love this company, I was able to tell him exactly how I wanted it to feel on top and how much support and firmness for the core. I did get the individual covered separate coils for less movement and the bamboo top fabric because I sleep hot and the bamboo fabric is great for me. It has the euro top instead of the pillow top the old one had. It is just beautiful too. I really debated if I should get a latex layer in the top, ended up not getting it, but if I was doing it again it would be worth the extra money. I love my latex pillows so much I think I would like the latex layer. I absolutely did not want any type of memory foam I can't stand it. I do have the option to let him take it back and add the latex layer still. Another great thing about this place! I have recommended them to several of our friends, especially those with an rv. And the prices are fantastic. So far I have not had any back pain like I was having from the old one. Super comfortable and extremely supportive. I especially wanted the heavy solid foam sides which will support you sitting on the edge or pushing on it getting up and out. I am a side sleeper and I tend to sleep on the edge of the bed, it supports me completely. I could jump on my side and never move my husband's side. The only thing that I wish was different is how much higher this one is. Thank goodness my sheets still fit. I have no idea if they ship out or not but I know they deliver all around the Houston area.
