Glad this topic was bumped, forgot about that miridian tire episode, had a laugh remembering! I scrounged two tractor tires a couple of years ago to plant in, one to hold invasive bamboo, and was standing at the top of my tiered back yard(stairs) and thought I'd just let go of the tire and it would bounce off the stairs instead of me struggling with it, wel...it bounced..and picked up speed...and bounced again...picking up more speed...well that puppy bounced all the way down a 100ft tiered yard and kept gaining speed...and kept going, final bounce and it cleared our yard all together and sits where it landed, two years ago, in the bushes...never to be seen again. Well, not all bright ideas work out!! But I still have the other one and will cit it open more with my jig saw, DON"T ever try a skill saw, BAD IDEA!! Just about took my leg off! Yup, Calamity is my name!!!

Cindee, glad to hear rain is plentiful your way. Your plants must be so happy and growing full force. Keep swaying, please. Kelpie, yours sounds like a great idea. I don't know if I have the energy for washing the cars, but I will definitely leave the windows down today. Linda, your post spurred me to get online and check out our local restrictions. We can only use regular sprinklers once weekly, but can water flower beds with a hose or with microirrigation in between. We do have regular irrigation for approx. 2/3 of our yard. The parts we didn't install it are the parts that had large trees and native plantings that have been here for decades without any irrigation, or recent plantings that when established, won't need irrigation. However, things that get driest are things in other areas that just need more water. New plantings, annuals and perennials. They were doing ok till this month. The drought has just been too much for them. We were on vacation for a week also. We have two fairly small areas with St. Augustine grass, and interestingly enough, it is doing rather well in the areas that get shade for half the day. A couple of patches that get full sun, I am having to deep water with the hose at least one other time a week. I am glad I don't have more in full sun. I could do microirrigation, I guess, but the needy areas in the beds already have sprinklers, and I really think rain must just be around the corner! John, thanks for your kind offer. Wish we were closer, would love to see your farm someday- sounds like you do some pretty interesting stuff I'd love to learn more about. Please keep posting and teach us more about your stuff. The diameter of the Miata tire is 22.740 in. The diameter of the Honda tire is 23.468 in. The difference is 0.728 in or 18.491 mm. This is greater than the presumed 5 mm although it is not large. The ratio between the two diameters is 22.740/23.468 or 0.969 which is about 97%. If you put the Miata tires on the Honda, you could expect the Honda speedometer to read about 3% fast. At a true speed of 60 mph, the speedometer would indicate about 61.9 mph provided the speedometer reads true in the first place. Also, the mileage registered by the odometer will be about 3% high. In other words, after traveling 1 mile, the odometer will have advanced 1.03 miles. This differnce is small and one can expect these differences to increase a little as the tires wear down. Both tires have the same width therefore there should be no interference problem with the front wheels turned to maximum steering effort. One caveat: A few years later when these tires need replacing, wiil you remember it has the wrong sized tires on it and will you remember what the correct size is? A note in the glove box may help.

I do get tired, but I also understand how important it is now more than ever to be in tune and aware of the direction we are headed in. A lot of the decisions being made currently by our politicians will affect literally all of us in one way or another, no one is exempt, so it's important. I do try to be choosy about who and what stories I watch or read. I don't want to hear the opinions and propaganda from the talking heads. It's near impossible to find a news source that offers just the facts as opposed to people who are paid to just hear themselves talk, but I try to filter through it the best I can to reach my own conclusions. Chisue is right, much of it is to wear us down and turn us into zombies about it. Don't let them win!
