air recirc button?

What is the purpose of this button? Is it simply to recirculate the air in my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant? ben - yes if it has or you add and appliance cord to power the disposal 86- call Mountain Plumbing and ask if they still sell the buttons as spare parts, other wise you should get the ISE brushed nickel as the others I know in SS all cost more than the "kits" in the link.

Compressor failing, or just bad recirc valve?

The tech said "It's not the recirc valve since I can manually switch it from one side to the other without a problem". I'm assuming he was shorting the relay to force it in one direction or the other, but that hardly proves the valve isn't a problem, it only proves that he can get it to move back and forth... if the solenoid is flaky, it may work just fine once it has become "unstuck". but once it "sticks" in one direction or another, it may take multiple attempts to get it unstuck. Does anyone know if the recirc valve changes direction with a momentary signal, or if the solenoid has to be energized continually to be held in one direction? If it's the latter, what direction (heat or cool) is it typically in when not energized? If it requires constant signal (power on solenoid coil) for cooling, that would explain why a loss of power to the system often means a lack of cooling upon return of power... the valve returns to "heat" mode when it loses power, and getting power back doesn't guarantee a sticky valve will return to "cool" mode. Just trying to understand potential failure modes here...

Either option you describe doesn't put the water down the drain, so that's good. The 2.5 gal water heater option, though, brings up this question: if you use appreciable hot water from it, and you now have put "tons" of cold water back into it, I doubt that it would have had enough time to recover and your hot water would now be lukewarm at best. Doesn't that kinda put you back pretty close to square one? I've always preferred the recirculating pump design. And, they can be a DIY project where you may not want to plumb a water heater. The always-on pumps should be avoided for the excessive heat loss they guarantee. The timer-based pumps are better but can only approximate your habits. The demand pumps with a touch switch (or even a motion sensor!) are the ultimate but they command a hefty price. I've done a DIY demand system with a Taco pump from eBay and the Grundfos thermostatic valve from a timer-based system with my own low-voltage control for about 1/3 the price of the Metlund system. @brickeyee As I've stated REPEATEDLY and CLEARLY in many threads discussing this subject on this forum... A traditional recirc system is preferable to a retro fit if it can be done cost effectively and with acceptable inconvenience. For new construction it is the way to go. Recirc as an after thought can be very expensive and very inconvenient. In those circumstances a retro fit recirc can work well with few compromises and at modest cost with ZERO inconvenience. Your position that the only way is the traditional recirc flies in the face of my 10+ years of perfect service from the Laing Autocirc. How much experience do you have with a retro fit recirc? Any experience with the Watts recirc? The Chillipepper? "If you think having previously heated water with its greater load of contaminants leached from piping in your cold water supply is acceptable go for it" Another excuse but not a reason for not using a retrofit recirc. That water is flushed within the first seconds of opening ANY cold faucet. I've had a chemist buddy take samples and make sure.

What you should do is put up a picture of the book that is in the glove compartment and ask what this thing is for?Then someone can tell you what that thing is.Then you could look these things up that you ask and show pictures of.

normal vent operation sucks in outside air. this air needs to be heated in the winter or cooled in the summer. recirc mode adjusts the vents to use less or no outside air and reuses the conditioned inside air. it lets the a/c cool the air a bit better. my 83 colt had it and my 07 sonata also has it. i don't use it now since the ventilation system seems to heat/cool the air with no problem. you can use recirc on very hot days but it makes the inside of the car somewhat stuffy since you are not getting fresh air.

Sorry! After all your mystery parts pictures I just thought you were kidding around?You know playing riddle games.I seriously thought you were just funning around.But I guess you were serious.LOL after all this time I thought you were being a wise guy?

I call the ricirc button the stink button.If there is a stink outside like a dead skunk in the road.I push the button to keep outside air from stinking up the car inside.Or if I eat at Taco Bell and later I start to stink up the inside.I switch to outside air to get rid of the inside stink.

One use of the recirculate feature is to speed up heating or cooling of the interior after which, one changes to a normal ventilation mode.
