Depends on the amount of fluid. Mom does well with "guards" they are held on with 2 elastic straps that go around her sides. The advantage is that she doesn't have all that plastic or paper touching her very sensitive skin. The packages can be identified by the little male & female figures in white outline. Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, & Walgreen have them .different name on each store brand. Rite-Aid & Wal-Mart are in med. blue & white packages & you get 40 of them with 1 set of elastics in each pkg. Mom has pretty heavy flow & they work well & she manages them by herself. They run about $11 pkg. The pull up Depends & other brands she had trouble pulling up & down & if she had any feces that would be a problem getting it all over. I used these on dad only at night as he just was afraid of having an accident. I'm sure others will chime in. So many of ones they use in hospitals & nursing homes are huge & so hard to get on & make the skin sore.

Couple weeks later, I see a the exact same dent on passenger side, asked her about it, you should have seen her face, she's normally a peaceful woman, but...Poor thing, she probably didn't realize I have plastic doors when she started parking by me last year. The other day I came back from the bank, parked in my usual section, next to a....huge pickup, so tall the shrimpy guy who drives it prolly needs a stepstool to climb in. The car on the other side of him? My frind Dolores' car of course.Hmm, I can see how people get tempted to key cars (I would/could never do that myself). Couple monthes ago, a customer watched a junk car smack into a new car, the genius driver just parked there anyway, and went off to shop. Don't you know the witness waited for the smacked car's owner, and police were called. The offender looked shocked that she was caught. Boy I could go on and on, suffice to say it's true common courtesy is disappearing fast.

As a rule, dogs take a course of action in day to day relationships requiring the least energy----saves the energy for more important things---catching food, for instance. A pack leader has several indicative actions---body language, verbal commands, and as a last resort, physical action. In your case, allowing the dog on the couch means you are allowing him to become more alpha. Which is fine---as long as YOU become more alpha as well. The second he begins to stretch into more than the area he needs(that 1/3 of the couch)---you need to make a verbal correction---and make sure he complies. That will establish the bounderies and rules dogs need to have to be happy. Look at a dog like it is water----as long as the water is directed and contained, it is beneficial. Once the direction/containment is removed---the water becomes unmanageable---goes whereever it can and messes up things in the process. Look at dogs that are tied/ignored---they bark constantly, run in circles, chew on things---and act miserably----because they are miserable. They have no structure. My GSD/chow mix was just such a miserable dog. He barked incessantly, attacked anything that moved and was quiet only when kenneled. I gave him a job(guarding) and rules(direction) and exercise---and now he has no issues with people(unless they are uninvited) But, the rules today are just as stringently enforced as they were three years ago----he just seldom tries to break them now. In your case---allow the dog on the couch. But make a verbal correction as he BEGINS the bad behavior. Then he will understrand and the problem will be solved---as long as you make the correction always. I actually have several sounds to stop bad behavior. Mild corrections are an Eh!, more severe are an Aaaaaah! and the most severe is a sort of growl---low and intense. I use those sounds to eliminate the confusion when I correct a grandchild with a No! or similar verbal correction. Oh, and I have a very timid girl dog---I never use any correction with her but the first one----she responds so quickly the others are not necessary. They are so used to these sounds, people often miss the actual correction.

Drop those bags at the front door lock it and then race to the john??? I've worn a pad (stayfree anykind except the little flimsy ones) for years. I also pin the front end to the panty so they don't drop out on to the floor somewhere. Just making sure I change them a lot and keep doggie doodoo bags to put them in in the bathroom trash. I like to shoot a spray of some kind of fem deo spray around the panty area too. (for my own peace of mind) I'm also trying not to drink a lot at night say from 8pm on no sodas teas etc. I use Biotene for dry mouth so sometimes just a drop or two of that will moisten my mouth. As long as you can go undected it's ok out in public. I think men have the same problem but don't talk about it/. I want to mention that if you get any little sores on your bum/ cheeks/ rear= end because of whatever - a good product to have on hand is "no sting spray on bandage". a few rub-ons of it makes a protective coating and they will heal faster saddle sores. . . .
