Glitter....

Hi Linda,

Haven't seen much of you lately on the board -- how are things with you? How is your DM adjusting to the nursing home? I seem to recall you and your husband had a trip coming up sometime in the summer. I hope you are at peace with the decision to place your mother, and that things are going well for her and for you.

Linda I've been wondering about you too! the 8th is so near, -- if everyone doesn't know or are new here, we are going to meet! (she's coming to my city). i haven't seen her cousin at work, because this past week, -- yes another accident, i was bitten by wasps! all over my other leg around the ankle, it's quite swollen, it could only happen to me! so i've been staying indoor! hope she enjoys the heat - 98 out today! sure hope she likes me and i'm not that disappointing! enjoy your evening, and keep cool if it's hot where you are! debbie

Oh Debbie!!! Wasps!! I have such a fear of bees and wasps...you poor thing...it seems you just start to heal and something else happens...I hope you are not too uncomfortable.
I was also thinking about Linda...haven't seen her on here in a while...I hope she's doing okay.
Debbie, how could she not like you? You are such a dear, sweet, loving, caring soul...she'll adore you, I'm sure of it. Now, go and take care of yourself!!! I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight about wasps swarming me....YUCK!!! : )

Hmmm. I would stay away from the glitter. How about a stencil with Gold paint? Peacocks have gold. Or you can incorporate some gold or silver accents with wall decor? You can also go to your local art supply store and purchase a large letter "A" and paint that in a glitter effect.

@Jilly Thank you for that link! I don't know why I didn't think to search "metal shards." My thumb looks exactly like that! @maddielee They're extremely teeny-tiny specks embedded in my skin. Gorilla tape helped get a lot out/off (and hurt) but it's almost impossible now to see them just looking straight at it. I have to move my thumb side to side in the light to see them shimmer. The pain is much better now after a day and a half. I can apply pressure to my thumb and not squeal. I'm definitely going to try some of the things in the link. Thank y'all!

Adding glitter to paint or using a spray glitter over paint is really not that difficult, but I don't think I would do it on a ceiling. One of my favorite rooms ever was a dining room that was white with a deep red , ceiling and dark, rich wood furnishings, so I am absolutely on board with a ceiling accent given the right space, but gloss or glitter will enhance every flaw and ceilings are generally not as flat and perfect as we think they are. This is why everyone recommends flat paint on ceilings vs gloss, semi gloss or even eggshell. Patricia is also right that you need to know what you are starting with. Many years ago I thought I would paint a bathroom with a textured paint (kind of a sand texture). Looked great on my sample board. I had orange peel textured walls. The effect was not desirable. One of my friends described the look as similar to a rural freeway gas station restroom. I had to remove all the textured paint which removed much of the orange peel. It was a mess to remove and re-texture and then I had prime and paint again.
