how are you all doing?

hi everyone! it's a rainy day here and we finally have buds on the trees! i hope all you ladies had a great mother's day too! we are i think just starting too adjust with our new life. it's so weird not having time constrants! but i miss Al so much. we ordered his headstone about 2 weeks ago and they have already installed the base at the cemetary, i think this might be the start of realization also starting. the lady from the monument company called me and said the person who does this said that we did not seem to put much on the monument and did we want to add more to it, she seemed a little put off that we did not want any quotes at the bottom.

carley and i have put the laminate floors in all except the baseboards and we have also finished painting the kitchen cupboards (it's great to have a 50's style kitchen so you can paint the cupboards). i also had a youngman, our son's friend take 2 loads of "stuff that will come in handy" to the dump. did you know that nails can break into pieces! - lol. Gracie Joy is a real little firecracker, she's almost 5 1/2 months old and weighs 6 pounds and is into everything, she also likes wearing "doggy" clothes and has to be tied up even in the yard since she is a car chaser! i have met alot of "new" neighbours who ask me if i have just moved into the area, i laugh and say no we've lived down the street for 20 years!

i has reading an article about widows(ers) and they say that after about 2 weeks the novilty of people helping out stops and then people do not want to talk to you, it's like they might catch something, believe me it's so true!

i hope that everyone is doing well, and i've give anything to be caring for Al right now!

Sound like you are doing pretty good. I am so glad.
I have been busy in my garden and also putting in lots of seeds to bed in my new mini green house. I found it at the end of the season last year-$12 dollars -it had been 60. I bought it and waited all winter to put it up-It has been fun to use.
So far I have not seen a monarch, but I am watching.
On mother day, I told my kids to stay home and let their kids Mother them. We will be seeing all of them in another week for a Birthday Celebration.
We had a wood duck treat us to a Mother's Day show. She had seven baby duck hatch in our wood duck box and they all jumped out that morning as we sat having our Coffee. Really Neat.
Take Care and do report in every so often. I do think about you often.

I'll have to apply some of your methods, such as using larger boxes with envelopes as dividers. I've been using 1 gal zip-lock bags inside approx. 20x12 in box, each bag holds seeds to be traded (containing same seeds in smaller bags), seeds for us, empty seed packets and 1 with notes about the trades from this year only- older ones are kept elsewhere. Each bag is marked with permanent marker - 3 diff. colors in my case. Once I prepare seed pkts, they go in another bag and into the fridge, thankfully have a new larger fridge I can use one of the crispers for the seeds! What I've been doing , the old fashioned way, writing down on the piece of paper basic info -seeds to be sent and the seeds I'm most hopeful to be getting, address and I make a square which I mark, often with large point pen/marker , once I send with a check mark, received with an X, often have GREAT across the note -ab 1/4 size of the typing paper page, which I also use for seed envelopes. I make simple seed packets, with plain white or any color typing paper, lately I've been using pink. Fold the page in half (crosswise), cut the folded edge, then cut each crosswise into 3 equal piecesSmaller seeds -salvia and purslane, for instance, are best cleaned up in a plastic bag, give it a few shakes, let the seeds fall into the corner, discard most of the chaff, snip the corner and empty seeds into packets. Night Blooming Jasmine - got a new idea, after gathering white seed pods, again, place in the plastic bag, crush gently with fingers to open the pods, take out into paper bag or large envelope and let dry. Unless you prefer to leave it in the pods to dry, works either way. I keep my freshly gathered seeds under the patio cover away from the kitties, for a couple of days or until I feel like cleaning them out. If there are any bugs -seldom have them, put seeds in the freezer for a few hours-that'll get 'em! Of course, certain seeds shouldn't be refrigerated or frozen, such as palms and other tropicals, need to learn. Again, thank you all and am going to try some of your methods. Hi Karen, It is raining! My pots are outside right now up against the garage wall. The overhang (roof) from the garage gives them a bit of protection. Yesterday, I put out two brugmansia pots to get some sun -- I forgot to bring them in and hope the rain didn't knock down the buds and blooms on them :-( There is always something! Going to see The Wicked today at 1 PM; hope the rain doesn't create a problem with us getting there.

Lynn, I did the same thing. I was lucky enought to find neighbors who lost all their plumeria in the same freeze I lost mine in. They were so excited, when I called to ask. I only charged them what I paid for the plants. Like you, I only kept the ones that I really love the color, size of the bloom and fragance. I went down to 36 plumeria. I ordered from Carol this year, only 3 plants, and one of them is waimea, which I can cancel, and buy yours if its not too big to mail out. Mine were all too big to mail. Andrew has been looking for a wildfire, so wait until he reads your post. He might just buy everything from you, knowing Andrew. Barbra

Hi june, thanks for checking in. I feel the same exact way as you.I used to be very kind and outgoing now I just don't feel like talking to anyone and I also think im a downer.I have gotten to the state where I dont even want to speak to my husbands family. I hate to be mean but they get on my nerves its like they want to compete with me on who he loved more. I know he loved us all the same.I celebrated his birthday on oct 8th and I did good at the cemetery but when they made me leave for the night I fell apart and have not been able to get myself back together. I dont understand this grieving stuff it stinks, I get back to the point where I just want to be with him.Its just so hard without him and with the holidays coming up im real scared.But I love to speak with you guys it really helps.June you are always in my thoughts. Things can be a little slow on some of these forums; I hope that means all is going well and that folks are able to get in some outside activities now that spring has finally sprung... although we had snow flurries this AM down on our end of the Big Lake.

I understand, I know how coming down after full time caregiving and a real change in your life is a huge adjustment. With Mom in LTC now I've got more free time than I know how to fill, but I'm getting a little better at it, and getting a little better at looking after myself as well.
