Comments (15)Don't know what thread you were reading. But you said you wanted the crust to be less thick and puffy than you are getting. Sounds like you don't want the thick armor of crust that I associate with some "fish and chips" shops. And sounds like the commercial product that was right-texture-but-too-salty was a dry mix in which you dip the moistened shrimp. So you might try making a thin batter of just water or milk plus egg, moistening the shrimp in that, then rolling lightly in your own not-too-salty dry mix of flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, plus bread or panko crumbs, and deep-frying. I don't think it is necessary to get all mad scientist with baking soda, vodka, nanoparticles and dark matter just to deep fry shrimp - no-one's grandma ever did that!...See MoreDiscussion about the performance of large-format floor tile
Comments (5)Ultimately, all tile requires proper installation which starts with appropriate structure. A well qualified tile installer will have the appropriate advice for your particular structure. That being said, our tile contractor installs large format tile in all sorts of applications, from turn of the century homes to new construction and we have never had a cracked tile. I can tell you, that often installers don't use the appropriate setting materials for large format out of lack of knowledge or simply saving money. In addition, with longer large format, it's also not uncommon to see setters not herring sufficient thinset coverage under the tile (particularly if they are fighting a difficult substrate level if they choose not to float it out or use a liquid backer board). Like I said, find a good installer, and use a tile that makes sense for your application and what you like, but don't let cracking being a concern....See MoreDiscussion with StrawChicago about growing roses, health & nutrition
Comments (107)RoseCanadian, sometimes we make mistakes but they're what we need to learn and get better at things. That's why I'm so appreciative of people on this forum, for sharing their lessons learned and helping newbies like me. I bet this next year will be an amazing year for you and your roses. You'll be able to smile and enjoy it even more knowing that it's all due to learning from these past mistakes :) Straw, I love that Neil Diamond picture! I have to find some of him that I took at a rose park here in LA. It was one of the only rose types that was doing well in the hot/dry conditions, and this park was not well taken care of. Looked kind of abandoned and the Neil Diamonds were very healthy looking. Probably a good 8 ft tall with giant blooms, I loved them. Good to know it can stay small own root in a pot. I liked the flowers on my Marc Chagall, but the bush and foliage were not as attractive as my Austins....returned him to the store. I don't know if it was the thrips when I had them or what but he wasn't doing it for me. I love your bouquet. What are the solid pink roses in it? Also Crown Princess? I got some pretty salmony pinks from mine back in NY but they were mostly the pretty orangey gold color of yours. But I liked when it played chameleon....See Moresushipup1
