How are you doing and more importantly how is mom doing? Does she need the surgery or is the bed rest going to work? Gosh I feel for you, very tough choices. Please check in and let us know how you are holding up!

Linda, thanks for asking.

It turns out that the fracture is not the kind that requires surgery -- in fact, surgery would not help. So they are going to do bed rest. Because they can't leave her in bed 24 hours a day, MIL will be getting physical therapy so she can move from bed to a chair. DH saw her today and said she seemed in relatively good spirits.

So the crisis isn't as bad as we thought it was.

I appreciate all of the comments people provided the other day -- they were helpful.

That sounds as if things are looking better for all of you. Maybe this is what she needs to remind her to use a walker to get from chair to bed, etc.

Here's hoping for the best!

Oh I am so happy to hear this! Not that she is hurting but the fact she does not need surgery! Hopefully the PT will help her to be a little more mobile, even after the hip is healed.
