Under the hammer!!

Feels like i'm sloowly becoming totally exhausted,never enough time in the day to complete all my tasks. too many deaths, funerals and inquests, Being a caregiver for the last 12 years has really hammered me physically and mentally but I soldier on day after day. The straw that nearly broke my back happened on the 11th march 2005 when another vehicle crashed into the back of our motability car as I was stopped in traffic, I heard a screech of brakes and whammo I got a neck injury,lower back injury a bruised kidney and a thumping headache to this day.

The hospital i attended weren't too interested I got 2 paracetamol, no xray no collar. I had to wait 19 days to see my GP at last some interest!! I'm now awaiting physiotherapy for my injuries....Doc can't give a date for assessment or treatment.He did prescribe diclofenac...I hope it helps!!

My car insurers were ok the car went in for its repairs today If i'm really lucky i will get it back in about 2-3 weeks, personal injury compensation has been applied for so again its a waiting game.....How long is a piece of string?

Sorry to rant,I'm glad this forum is here..... at least I know I'm not alone

You had a rough time. I sure hope you get all the physical therapy you need. Keep coming and letting us know your progress, we love to listen to folks.

Welcome to the Forum...what a trial for you to endure. Can't say it is always better here in the states, but xometimes it is. Hope you will be on the mend soon. Drop in anytime....lots of good listeners here! DerryW

We think we have narrowed it to the backflow device. It is loudest if you listen directly to it. Is it unheard of to replace such a thing? The plumber said he never had replaced one before!

Sorry to add to an older thread, just hate starting a new one if my topic is similar. I am looking to buy a new cordless drill. I am looking at the Rigid R8611501K. I am replacing an older B&D hammer drill that the batteries died on. I am drawn to the rigid brand because of the warranty (lifetime on the drill and the batteries). I only used the old drill as a "hammer drill" a few times over the years but it was handy to have the option. Just trying to decide if i should spend the extra to have the hammer drill option or not. The nail puller will make large gouges on each side of the nail head when it is hammered in to get a grip. A drilling hammer (small hand sledge in the 2-4 pound size) and a metal punch that is the same size or barely larger than the nail head will get them in most likely on all nut the hardest of woods. If you want it to look nice, it might be worth trying to center punch each nail head then drill the head off. It is one of those things that the less work to sink them, the more work may be required to repair the surface. To a certain extent the floor might be considered so damaged that it is only worth tearing it up and installing a new floor. And I love old floors.

I used to change the oil in my old car most of the time. The oil and filter cost maybe $12. The oil pan and filter were easy to reach. I knew I was using a decent quality filter, and using the proper weight oil. I had a shop do it a few times. Invariably, they would overfill it, making me have to drain some oil, a messier job than an oil change itself sometimes. They often tightened the oil filter and drain plug so tightly I couldn't remove them the next time. It was more than twice the price of DIY. I bought a new car a few years ago. It requires an odd weight of expensive synthetic oil that was so rare that Pep Boys didn't yet stock it. Everything under the tiny hood is shrouded by a plastic cover - you'd never know there was an engine under there somewhere. The oil and filter now account for most of the cost of a commercial oil change, not the parts, so I've never done the job myself. Other than rotating or changing tires, wipers, and a few light bulbs (myself - I do have some dignity), I haven't needed any repairs or maintenance; hopefully that will keep up. I'm not a huge beer fan either. Wine, that's another matter entirely....
