Wow - that white one is stunning! Very spectacular. I also agree that the red and white striped one is xjohnsonii. Looks just like mine. It should be very fragrant. Chuck, the true johnsonii is valuable, mostly because they almost never set seed, so the only way to get them is by getting offsets. Your image is too blurry for me to see properly. But I'm sure you could find a great trade. The plant trade forum on gardenweb is great - just post what you have and what you are looking for. Or I'm sure you could sell on ebay. Ronald: Yes, I have two seedling abiu trees. One has fruited one time, but I never got to tatse the fruit as we went away on vacation just before they were ready to be picked and they were gone when we returned. Here are some pictures I posted previously in another thread on this forum. Unforunately this bloom pictured, was only on one of the trees, and no fruit set. Actually, this particular tree has bloomed several times over the past few years (and multiple times per year) and has never set a fruit. I may have to take the chain saw out and let it rest by the trunk of the tree for a few days to see if that gets any rise out of the darn thing. There is a wide range of quality of fruit on Abiu, just like in Star Apple. How did your's compare?

years ago, i used to take my corgi kids to the local nursing home. this is a farming community. many of the residents had to leave their beloved pets behind and they longed for the feel of fur and sloppy kisses. i always called ahead to let them know i was coming, they would bring many of the residents to the day room and put them in a big circle. my pups would go from one chair to the next, getting treats and pets. like yours, they were in doggy heaven. my female corgi, one day there, disappeared. it was unusual that she wouldn't stay right with us. i went looking for her. one of the nurses pointed to an open door at the end of the hall and told me she was there. when i peeked in, maggie was sitting on a chair next to an elderly man's bed. he was stroking her head and cooing to her. i learned later that he passed away that very evening. i think she knew he was nearing his end and wanted to offer him comfort. she was such a perceptive little girl!
