I've never seen root rot on a jaboticaba. Mine, which are in ground of course, are in the lowest point in my entire property. There have been some multi-day rain events that have left standing water in this area for a full 10 days without any root issues. During dry season, I'll let the hose run completely flooding the area. That doesn't leave any standing water for more than a day, but I usually have to do it a day or two in a row before flowering commences. Good luck. Harry

Well I'm NOT a blue person. Indoors I have NO blue. My husband doesn't understand this. I have no idea why I feel this way. Outdoors things are different! I have a blue/yellow/white garden bed which I love. Yes, delphineums, catananche, campanulas, baptisia and more, are mixed with trollius, coreopsis moonbeam, peony Claire de Lune and low growing white clematis and aquilegia. It is a big mix and wouldn't be any fun at all without the blue! There are loads of clematis that are purple or blue/purple, but also some very nice blues I think. You do get into the question of "what is blue?" My husband and I think this could well be a male/female issue! "Victoria Blue" Salvia is the closest thing. I use it a lot. It is such a heavy, long bloomer, and about one in twenty of them will survive winter here. Just wish I could predict which would survive so that I could save seed from those alone and perhaps work up a more hardy strain. By the way, the Hydrangeas in Memphis, Tennessee are incredible. After reading all the posts, I now understand why some gardeners prefer the color. And I have to say that I've never met any gardeners whom I would consider snobbish. It's a little too purple and doesn't look right as a "patriotic" design. I will probably tear out the red and white and keep the "blue" (purple) since it seems to like this desert heat. Someone mentioned black flowers, and I remembered seeing black pansies in the most recent Burpee catalog. They're a beautiful velvety black with a spot of yellow in the center. So you fell and banged up an already dodgy knee. Didn't have any pain so you went on like you always do. Now the knee is telling you it is wounded & to take it easy for a few days and to quit abusing it. I would continue w/ the NSAIDS on a regular schedule for the next 2-3 days and RICE. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. IME, Ace bandage for compression because you can customize it....unless you already own a knee sleeve that works good for you. I've tried a couple of different ones & they ended up being torture devices. **ETA--Stack up some pillows to elevate the knee when you go to bed at night & sleep w/ it elevated o/ night.

What wonderful help from special KT friends! Thank you! DH was discharged yesterday afternoon. Told to schedule a nerve conduction study (sensors on the skin). This is not the invasive nerve study where electrodes are inserted into the muscles. The Hospital Primary handling the discharge cautioned that the hospital will always do a zillion tests and pursue every little abnormality -- so he should discard some of the long, lonesome trails that could follow up on those. (A nodule on his liver, for instance.) She said we could try the B12 and the ALC; it couldn't harm him. They want him to continue with sodium cholride 1000MG tabs twice daily for a while (none available at the pharmacy until Tuesday, so I wonder what we could do with plain table salt.) She gave him Baclofen 5MG (muscle relaxant) to take before dinner. This morning I finally reacted to the stress with shingles -- a forgone conclusion for me. It's just on my left temple. Had it on right temple 15 years ago. I took two of the 500MG Valcyclovir that I'd been issued when I stared infusions for my Multiple Myeloma and called the cancer center. The doctor on call gave me 21 more Valcyclovir, and I'm confident this will ease the problem as it progresses. I'll be better if we can help DH...and once the Monogram tech comes Wednesday to repair our fridge -- freezer works/refrigerator side is at 50F. DS brought be a little fridge he's used at flip houses...a lifesaver, but *so tiny*! When I picked up the Valcyclovir I got DH some sublingual B12 5000MG lozenges. The pharmacist didn't know anything about ALAcid, but I'll look on Amazon. Raven -- With help from our own Jasdip, we bought an electronic muscle stimulator (Creliver is the brand). It has foot pads and pairs of stimulator pads for use on the body. We're just learning to use it, putting the power to 30 and trying various 'modes' of current patterns. We haven't tried the pads yet. I see you use something like this at night; DH says he'll try the foot pads tonight. He's also taking CALM, a magnesium and melatonin powder, at night. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have your help and support! Thank you.
