Trigger thumb?

well i thought that Al was going to have to go to the hospital on sunday nite, i in my heart think he may have had another heart attack, but he just wouldn't let me call 911, men!!! anyways by 7 am monday he was fine, but Carley and i wheren't we stayed up all nite with him. but he missed his rehab. appointment where they were going to see if he had a trigger finger, where the fingers just lock, he says it's had to cut meat or sometimes even hold a mug, i remember he had an ulner nerve transplant 2 times in his other arm, so we are waiting again to have another appointment, i hope it isn't soon because of the freezing weather, take care, and let's get things exciting here again! debbie

Hi Deb...Sorry to hear about the night Al had. That is scary not knowing and then when they won't let you call. I know he doesn't lke the hospitals and who does? Glad it turned out fine. Have never heard of the tigger fingers. Hope all finds you all doing good. We had a round of cold weather too and a little dusting here in Kentucky. I am read yfor spring. Hasn't been to bad tho this winter at all. We just got back from Athens Alabama where my husband went for a job. He is a welder and pipefitter and didn't make the one tig test, so couldn't get the job. It was on a nuke plant. He can't see like he use to when he was younger, so actually that was a dry run. We also headed to Lima Ohio and no work there either at this time. We finally decided to head home and after many years of this traveling, Dh has retired. We are tired of this line of work. May go to Gulfport Miss and work just for supplmental pay. Anyway, girl you stay warm, and keep knitting those sweaters and gloves. I crochet, but don't knit. I would love to learn.....HUGS Gabby

Thank you for all the advice. My hand is better this a.m. for not being used all night. Still not good, but headed in the right direction. So I'm trying not to use it as much as possible today and hope improvement continues. I do have epsom salts. Almost threw out the container the other day. See? This is why I hate to throw out things. :-) Rhizo, the reaction you describe sounds like the tachycardia I get from naproxyn (Aleve). I won't go near it. The last time I took ibuprofen I had a scary pain that shot from the left side of my neck down to the center of my chest. Just one pain, but it made an impression on me! When I'd taken it before I noticed some twinges in my chest, but nothing like that.

I had trigger finger in my ring and middle finger on my left hand. Had a shot in each one of them help a little would catch every now and then but they would ache. Then on my right hand my middle finger started catching but didn't get a shot in that one.That one would ache too. Funny thing got a new to me car last summer and my fingers started getting better. I decided it was because my other car didn't have power steering and this car does. Once in a while my finger on my right hand will catch, but the left hand doesn't bother me at all. Kittywhiskers

Well, my symptoms have progressed somewhat over a few hours. I may change my opinion about seeing a doctor. (:-( I've developed a big knot at the base of the thumb, on the inside. That's where the problem is. The whole inside from top to bottom is a bit painful to the touch. That top joint is now pretty much stuck open unless I flex it with my other hand. It's still not a major problem, not very painful, and hasn't curtailed activities too much. But how much worse is it going to get? I've been icing it, I splinted it last night, and have been applying my topical anti-inflammatory cream (thanks to Alisande) which makes a big difference. It's been interesting, that's for sure. :-)

I wanted to give an update on the gift which I haven't bought yet, and I'm glad I didn't. But I will. DS and DIL finally moved all her things to his house and put her house up for sale. When I was in their house the other day I noticed some of her decor items from her old house were set in place. So I need to wait until she's all settled in to see if there's anything they could use. I still like the mantel clock idea. About her maybe wanting to move, no way. She has made herself lady of the manor and loves the country. DS said she acts like she's lived there forever which makes him thrilled. DIL told me a couple of weeks ago the first change she'll make is buying new bedding. LOL. When I went over there yesterday to let their Golden's outside for a bit, I saw a lot of various packages of Ralph Lauren bedding. From pillows to comforters. I like her tastes. I think I'll tell her I need new bedding for Christmas this year. :)
