If this is a resale home, the subsidence is typical. Instead of backfilling with the appropriate material and tamping in lifts (layers), they just dumped it in and poured on top. The old house I'm in now has the same problem with a drop of nearly 3 inches adjacent to the foundation.

In comparing the costs of remedying the defect, remember that if you build from scratch, you will have to excavate down to an undisturbed bearing or dill for pilings to avoid repeating the problem.

Mudjacking quote has all kind of language about homeowner responsible for preparing site, damage to underlying structures, etc. I suppose this is normal. No sewer in area as it is septic in back.
