The main building is a classic 3-bay pseudo Colonial house, which IMO is always appealing. Having a simple front porch (full width) and back porch would be very traditional.

The porches as shown are probably a "Southern" interpretation added to the house, reflecting the more temperate weather of the U.S. south, which would allow (require due to the humidity) more outdoor living. They would be very expensive to construct (and maintain). I don't care for them either.

The challenge in this plan is the "additions" added to either side of the main house. Since we can't really see them well, it's hard to evaluate whether or not they are complementary to the main building.

I'd eliminate the upper porch too and just make it a roof for the 1st floor porch. There are a lot of white farm houses that look like this. Here is @ponydoc house.

I like this too with one large gable.

Thanks tulip, those are great pictures. I'm hoping to dress up the simple exterior with red windows, that should help it to not look overly plain:)

Have you ever seen black windows on a white farmhouse? It looks amazing! And I personally think it'd be better for resale...just my 2 cents ;)
