Exterior window color: bronze vs. black

| I seem to be having a brain freeze. I am trying to make selections and for some reason I cannot make a choice without changing my mind 2 minutes later. I just just 4 hours choosing plumbing fixtures!!!
Anyway, help me decide my exterior cladding color: bronze or black. I think probably either will look fine and I should move on to something else. Our exterior is going to be a reddish/brown brick with whitewash like these:

You sound like me... hate to make all these decisions. IMO, with the reddish/brown brick, I think the bronze would bring out the color in the brick. You are right, either color would look good. I love that brick finish! Good luck.

I think bronze - not quite as stark looking and might age a little better. I LOVE your sandblasted brick - beautiful!

I can think of no historical residential examples of bronze windows and the color is commonly associated with commercial storefronts and office buildings. For your residence I would use black aluminum to simulate a black paint finish.

Black. Bronze is absolutely the wrong color against whitewashed brick. It will look odd, really odd. Black will look right.

I still say bronze. It is done a lot in the high end homes in Atlanta, usually paired with a lighter stone/brick exterior. It is lovely. Here is a picture of a light brick french house with the bronze windows . . . not a great picture but you get the idea. Beautiful with copper gutters.

Neither. White is a more appropriate color with whitewashed brick. Like your last example. Dark windows disappear and become visual black holes rather than a distinctive part of the architecture.

You might want to know more about the design of the house before disagreeing with the owner's decision to use a dark window color.

| Thanks for the opinions!! We choose black. I was drving around and saw this house and it's our inspiration for the exterior. I hope it looks good. It's so hard picking these components and wondering how they will look together. I just go look at older homes for inspiration.

I can't be sure but the windows look like black sash in a white frame or sub-frame. It also appears that shutters were removed.

Yes, there is a wood border around the windows painted white. The hinge pivots for the shutters are still there, but the shutters are gone. It's pretty obvious if you magnify the picture X2.

You guys have a good eye. I can totally see the white frame and the former shutters. We are going to have shutters. So do you think it will still look okay in black? We're doing aluminum clad wood windows so I don't have the option of doing a different frame color. Here's the elevation (the front door and columns are not going to look like that)

thanks...more info

Marvin or Eagle will do a different frame and sash color. The elevation is nicely proportioned and completely free of cliches. I like it.
