what should we expect to pay for a new foundation?

What is a ballpark estimate for expected foundation cost for a 5000 square foot home in western Washington state? Not including excavation. The total concrete is estimated to be 162 cubic yards.

I ask because we are trying to determine if the bid we have is reasonable, or at least within the range of reasonable. (Turns out we only have one bid.) We are trying to decide whether to stop the project at this point in order to get other bids.

I can't answer your question but would always get at least 3 estimates.

No one can answer your question without knowing the design and specifications of your house, foundation design and type, site conditions, contours and access. Costs in other parts of the U.S. may not be consistent with the costs in your specific area.

Debrak2008's suggestion for multiple bids is sound advice.

Hard to say. I am in your area and am doing a 2600 with walkout basement of similar sq footage. Is your 5000sq all on slab or two stories or what?
