Room Dimension

Hi we are at the design stage of our self build and i'm after some advice on the size of some rooms if possible. At the moment we have designed a kitchen diner which is 18 feet by 38 feet. We are hoping to have the kitchen at one end, then a dining table to sit say 8 people and then a chill out zone to house a tv and corner sofa. Do you think this is big enough? The other option is to knock through into our living room which would increase the kitchen diner to 54 feet. What are your thoughts? I like the original idea of 36ft by 18ft but i'm worried that it wont be large enough to house the kitchen, dinning area and family chill out zone.

Tough to say.
Dimensions are important, but so is layout.

Do you have a floorplan?

I'd say it completely depends on the layout, but that seems very doable. Right now, in my home, I have a space that is 18x40 that has a family room, kitchen/dining room, and living room.

My kitchen is not huge, nor is my eating area. But, I'd think that 18x36 should be "large enough".

To help us help you/assure you though, you should post up your plan so we can see where the walking paths might be.
