Help!
I'm deciding between three materials right now for my re-roof. Cedarlite (concrete), Wood shake, and Clay tiles. I live in Southern California so I am not prone to harsh weather. In terms of budget, I've received quotes on all of them and they in the relative ballpark so I want to pick the right product, even if it means paying a little more.
I wanted to go with the Boral Cedarlite Shake concrete tile, until a roofer advised me not to. He said that these roofs faded and the color was not covered under warranty.
He also said that they would be impossible to walk on and they would crack. The only product that could be walked on was cedar. I would need to walk on the roof to do routine maintenance, blow leaves, and possibly install solar panels.
Has anyone had any experience with this product?
