Have a personal build blog? Link it here!

sweet.reverie

I have LOVED looking through all the blogs that have been linked in various posts. I don't know anyone in 'real life' who has built or is building, so this forum and these blogs have become my own little support system!

So if you have a blog from a past, current or future build, link it here! I would love to read it. :)

Don't be shy!

I will link mine too but it is pretty boring since we have not broken ground yet...

Here is a link that might be useful: My Blog

Great blog mpro! How did you set up the gopro camera outside? Is it mounted in a tree? Are you worried of anyone stealing it while you're not there (or are you always there)? Such a fantastic way to capture the progress of the build. Thanks!

Thanks Stephanie_sara. I'm the worse half of mpro, and in charge of the tech. We put a battery powered game/trail camera whose battery lasts about 4 weeks for most of the time lapse shots. It takes a shot about every 5 mins. I'm risking it getting stolen out of the tree, but you have to get on a ladder to get to it and it's camo/not obvious. The GoPro gets hooked on whatever I can find for "shorter" sequences (Like my slab pour which will be up later this week).

Okay, I just resurrected my home building blog this week. I started it this time last year, but didn't really get committed on the build until I signed paperwork this past February. At the time, I kept it private -- you could list ten friends to look at it, but they all had to make WordPress accounts to do so. Which really was NOT effective. I've just gone public today. I haven't posted in it for a LONG while until this week, but now I'm ready to just GO with it.

I really like some of the ideas and experiences everyone has shared on these posts.
With that said, as a personal experience, if anyone is looking to inform themselves about home building or remodeling, there is a very interesting Ebook that could help you out on any doubts you might have on the matter, that way you can avoid the common mistakes or misconceptions that people might make while building/remodeling a home. Its a free download, so you should definitely check it out.

Hello. We haven't started construction yet, still just in the plan phase. We are shooting to start our build early next year depending on the winter weather forecast. But for now, we have documented our journey beginning with the open house that started it all. Hope you enjoy! www.buildingcasavega.com

This is such a great thread! I bought land last year and have drawn up a floor plan. I'm now working with an architect to create actual plans and hope to break ground around the end of this year. In the meantime, I'm planning lots of the decorating and design elements for the various rooms.

Yep! My blog is also on my personal/business/portfolio website (I'm a web designer for a living), so sometimes certain posts will be related to design or personal finance (I've made some national headlines for my student loan debt paying off journey, which I tracked on my blog for 19 months).

However, you can find everything house related via the category "Wildernest" - http://www.thewiredlife.net/blog

I also have a Facebook page for it for smaller things that I don't put on the blog - https://www.facebook.com/WildernestMA/

Oh, this is an awesome thread! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's build projects. My husband and I bought a lot by the ocean and started building last fall. The garage is pretty much done, and now we're hard at work on the house. We had someone pour the foundations and we hired a crane operator to lift the roof trusses up onto the garage walls, but otherwise we're doing all the work ourselves. I'm pretty deadly with a caulking gun and nail gun, and used a chop saw for the first time last week :-)

    P. Thank you for posting your blog. I, too, am currently building in Cedar City, so I can relate to your story. We are building owner/builder and broke ground in August. It's been a much bigger challenge than I expected, but things are moving along. Your house is looking great by the way.

I grew up in an area of Southern California that had many Eichler neighborhoods and many, many, MCM homes. I think you designed yours very well. Good luck with the rest of your build.
