When we bought our house we were basically buying land, and the house that was on the property was a throw in. We love the house and want to rehab and add on. We have all our plans almost finalized with our architect. We took the plans to the bank we got our first loan with and they gave us a decent amount for construction but they need a good chunk of a down payment.

All of it's fine and I think we can do what we want with the loan amount but I'm wondering if we should shop around? The bank we are using is a local bank.

We would love to do some green things and I'm wondering if there are any gov't grants for such a things?
