Building a Home

First draft

We're taking a stab at designing while we go through the interviewing process for professionals. We've considered out lot's contours, sun positions, views, etc. We've made a list of rooms and determined loosely their qualities and character. We haven't made exact measurements. We want to be sure flow and the 'feel' is right before we go into detail.

Would you like to take a look? Do you have any advice? Thoughts?

The 2 bedrooms in the nw corner will have a jack and jill bath.

The living room furniture will "arrange more nicely" if you move the fireplace to the front wall. The fireplace on a fall, narrow wall doesn't work out too well.

The kitchen seems oversized for the house. I'd lose a bit of it and add a pantry -- better storage, cheaper.

I wouldn't like guests to have to walk through the kitchen to reach the dining room.

That's all I can say based upon this very preliminary design.
