Distance windows from corner for curtains?

In our master bedroom we are placing the head of the bed between two windows. I asked that the windows be separated to allow for the bed/nightstands and now they seem too far into the corners on the main wall. I want to make sure that there is room for the window treatments. How much distance would you allow for a window from the intersecting wall?

18"-24" in order to give ample room and not crowd the corner.

We were limited in my daughters room. If we wanted windows on 2 walls, one would be very close to the corner. There is 4.5" between the corner and the window trim. It's not ideal, but it works with a single width of lined and interlined fabric.
