White type of panels? EWC is cedar but it is not as durable or long lasting as WRC but much better than pine. It will require considerable maintenance and tends to be a little less stable than WRC and will move more.

Thanks millworkman. Shiplap I think is the term, quite a modern look. We've been quoted on clear WRC, but I also like a rustic knotty look and EWC apparently has more knots. And we live in the east, not the west.

Presumably a lower grade of WRC would be knotty too.

I'm also looking at factory finished painted cedar (I've seen black or near black painted cedar that looks great to me, but our architect doesn't approve). Not sure if there is a point in using cedar if painting it though.
